Brina Chattan has always known her place in life. Her two
older sisters were to be married to make advantageous
alliances with other clans in the highlands, and she was to
become a bride of Christ. Destined for the church from the
day she was born, Brina's not prepared for all that to
change. When her older sister, Deirdre, disgraces the
family, the man Deirdre was promised to takes Brina in her
place. Thrown into a life she was never meant to live, Brina
doesn't know what to do. She knows she must honor her father
and his wishes to see her sent to the church, but her
growing desire for the man that kidnapped her is testing her
resolve to remain pure for the church and heed her father's
wishes.
Connor Lindsey needs an innocent bride that is above
reproach, preferably an amiable one. The one he takes is
definitely innocent, but she's more hellcat than she is
agreeable. Forced to kidnap Brina when his intended bride
is disgraced by Melor Douglas, Connor hopes to get Brina
resigned to her fate quickly. The Douglas clan wants the
Lindsey clan's land, and they've even kidnapped Connor's
young sister in hopes of using her to take it away from
them. A marriage to Brina would make his clan stronger but
he has to get her to agree to it, and get her father's
blessing first...before his clan loses everything.
Is there anything sexier than a highlander who kidnaps his
bride? I didn't think so either, and if HIGHLAND HELLCAT is
any indication, Mary Wine definitely agrees. Ms. Wine has
managed to take an old tried and true story line and breathe
fresh air into it; giving it new life with intriguing
characters, passionate, tension-filled romance, and a well
researched history. Sure you know the story, and there's no
question on how it's going to end, but the journey to the
last page is well worth your time. There's also an
unexpected twist that may surprise you. You will not
be disappointed.
HIGHLAND HELLCAT is the second book in Ms. Wine's Highland
Series. It wonderfully sets up the third book which will
feature Brina Chattan's sister, Deirdre, and Laird Quinton
Cameron. I can't wait to see how Quinton handles her.
In the raw, rugged beauty of the Scottish Highlands,
tumultuous times bred warrior men and women who fought for
country, keep, and kin, and loved as passionately as they
lived. An illegitimate son, chosen as laird after the ruling
Douglas clan slaughtered his family, Connor Lindsay is
surrounded by men who challenge his right to lead. Looking
for a virtuous bride to cement his leadership by presenting
him with an heir, he kidnaps a feisty laird's daughter. To
keep this Highland Hellcat in his bed, he'll have to do
battle with the Douglases, the Church, and most of all Brina
herself.
