When he was alive, Detective Kevin Fahey was a less than
stellar man. Not a bad guy, but not the best he could be.
In death, Kevin has had a lot of time to reflect on his
former life. He finds that, in order to move on, he must
find a way to make a difference that might make up for some
of his previously lousy ways. Yes, Kevin Fahey is a dead
detective.
In Chaz McGee's new book, ANGEL INTERRUPTED, the second in
her Dead Detective Mystery series, she continues the story
of Kevin Fahey, a detective from "the other side" who
is determined to continue in his former line of duty.
When a young nurse is mysteriously found dead in her home,
Kevin is on the scene as Maggie Gunn, his replacement in
the detective division, arrives to take charge of the case.
The young woman appears to have committed suicide but
Maggie soon finds evidence that she has been murdered. She
is deep in the investigation when chaos erupts outside with
the news that a young boy has been kidnapped from the park
directly across the street from the murder scene. Suddenly,
Maggie has her hands full with two urgent cases, and Kevin
realizes that he can at last find a way to help his Maggie.
Being able to see things others cannot is a big advantage
for Kevin. He discovers where the little boy has been
taken, but his inability to communicate with the living is
incredibly frustrating. When he realizes that he can be
seen and heard by an unlikely helper, Kevin finds a way to
send a message to Maggie. Now if she can just decipher the
cryptic drawing that will lead her to solving the
kidnapping, another link will open up that will help with
the nurse's murder. Ever faithful, Kevin
realizes there is more than a "ghost of a chance" for
everything to come together in time to solve these two
crimes.
At first glance at the cover of ANGEL INTERRUPTED, one
would gather that this is a typical cozy mystery, but once
inside, readers will find a absorbing paranormal/police
procedural/ mystery that grabs your attention and doesn't
let go to the very end. Chaz McGee is a creative and
intelligent writer who combines a lively, fascinating cast
of characters with a complicated but captivating plot to
give her audience a brilliant story.
A
lost soul in limbo, Kevin Fahey is trying to prove he's a
better ghost than he ever was a man. And trying to help
Maggie Gunn, the detective who replaced him, is a good way
to start.
