Mystery Amateur Sleuth

Maggie Walsh thinks things are going really well with her radio talk show, "On The Couch With Maggie Walsh," until she finds out her ratings are at the bottom of the rung, right under the "Swine Report," at the small station in Cypress Grove, Florida. Luckily, salvation and higher ratings might be right around the corner thanks to a film production company that comes to town to film their latest zombie movie.

Maggie's producer encourages her to get some behind- the-scenes interviews to boost the ratings for her show. Since her mother, Lola, has a small part in the film, Maggie has an "in." When the director finds out Maggie is a psychologist as well as a talk show host, he asks her to be a script consultant to help the actress playing a psychologist. Maggie's first day of shooting gets off to an ill-fated bang when the lead actress, Adriana St. James, is shot and killed with a prop gun.

As Maggie does a little investigating, she learns that Adriana was universally disliked on the set by cast and crew. The list of suspects that she and Detective Rafe Martino have compiled seems to grow by the day. A threatening note and a series of accidents warns Maggie to back off, but she's determined to flush out the killer before "cut" is called on another actor's career.

REEL MURDER is the second book in Mary Kennedy's Talk Radio Mystery series. She continues the energetic adventures and mishaps of amateur sleuth/radio host/psychologist Maggie Walsh. Incorporating her background in radio and as a practicing psychologist, Kennedy brings a sense of realism and experience to her stories. With a lively cast of characters, including Maggie's hilarious mother, and a spellbinding mystery to solve, Kennedy continues to delight and surprise her readers with this winning addition to the cozy mystery genre.

SUMMARY

Maggie Walsh, Florida's newest radio talk show psychologist, thinks that being tucked away in her studio will keep her safe from all the crazies. But when she hits the airwaves, there's no telling whom she's reaching--and who wants to reach back.

Maggie is really getting into the swing of her daily radio show. She loves her new life in Cypress Grove, Florida, where she considers herself a female Dr. Phil--minus the money and the fame. Unfortunately, she's also minus the fans. So when a big movie production hits town, Maggie's producer thinks a few exclusive on-set interviews could mean a ratings boost.

But no sooner does Maggie slip her way into a job as a script consultant that the leading lady ends up dead from a prop gun that's been tampered with. With the help of sexy Detective Rafe Martino, Maggie discovers a bevy of behind-the-scenes secrets that could be motive for murder. Now she'd better find the killer before the credits roll--for it might be her own final performance.
