Getting older doesn't mean you have to give up fun,
excitement and even a little romance. For
Gladys "Gladdy" Gold and her feisty band of friends (known
fondly as the "Gladiators"), life at the Lanai Gardens in
Fort Lauderdale is never dull. In GETTING OLD IS TRES
DANGEREUX, Rita Lakin's sixth addition to her Gladdy Gold
Mystery series, retirement never looked so lively. Once
again, this pack of energetic senior citizens finds itself
with a mystery or two to solve.
Jack Langford has finally asked Gladdy to marry him, again.
Just as they are celebrating their future nuptials, a
blast from the past threatens their happiness.
Michelle DuBois, Jack's vibrant and sexy old girlfriend and
a well-known author of expose books, has
come to town to appear at a book signing when someone tries
to bump her off the bestseller list permanently. She pleads
for Jack's help when it becomes apparent that she is being
stalked by someone who wants to stop her next book.
While Jack is busy acting as bodyguard to his former French
flame, Gladdy has her hands full trying to keep her friends
from being taken by a New Age guru who has lured them into
his séances, worrying about Jack's safety, and trying to get
ready for her wedding. Whew! And you thought retirement was
sedate!
Rita Lakin brings out the sassy in the blue-hair set with
this hilarious, rollicking good time of a mystery novel.
Her character of Gladdy is just a delight -- this is no prim
and proper Jessica Fletcher, or dowdy Miss Marple. This gal
has style and smarts and knows how to use them both. Young
and old will be charmed by this entire series.
Gladdy must save her busybody friends from the pricey
sances of a phony-baloney New Age guru. That's when Gladdy
comes face to face with a dear departed friend with a
message. Original.
