Widower Justin Sadler believes that the spirit of his wife
is hanging around their home, and he so wants to believe
she is trying to get in touch with him. Her death was
over a year ago and he is still grieving. Not knowing
what else to do, he gets in touch with the Domestic
Equalizers, Debbie Sue Overstreet and Edwina Perkins-
Martin, and asks for their help. Debbie Sue is excited
about this new client, but Edwina wants no part of it.
They agree to go out to his farm to determine if someone is
trying to gaslight Justin.
Meanwhile in El Paso, Sophia Paredes is grieving over the
recent loss of her grandmother, Isabella, and wondering how
she is going to pay all of the debts incurred during
Isabella's long illness. In her day, Isabella Paredes was
a respected, well-known true psychic. She and Edwina had met
years ago through Edwina's mother-in-law-at-the-time.
Sophia has never told anyone she inherited her grandmother's
abilities.
Debbie Sue talks to Justin about bringing Isabella Paredes
to town to assist in the investigation, if they can afford
her. Seeing an opportunity earn some money, Sophia accepts
the job but fails to mention her grandmother is dead. Once
Sophia arrives in Salt Lick, she proves that she also has
strong psychic abilities. Justin's dead wife knows someone
is out to harm her husband and leaves him a specific message
that Sophia can help him.
If it is a book by Dixie Cash, it is a fun and funny, sassy
and sexy, and an all around terrific read. This tale gives
the Domestic Equalizers' husbands more of a starring role,
along with Justin and Sophia. This is a stand alone book,
but a newcomer will enjoy the series a lot more by beginning
with If You're Leaving Anyway, Take Out the Trash.
As for the many established fans, we're always happy to read
about the high jinx of these wonderful, impossible women.
Full-time hairdressers and part-time private detectives,
Debbie Sue Overstreet and Edwina Perkins-Martin—the
Domestic Equalizers—have dealt with cheating spouses,
shady business deals, Elvis-obsessed shoe thieves, even
murder. But ghosts? That's a whole new rodeo!
Justin Sadler's just coming to terms with the absence of
his dear departed Rachel—but now he's not so sure she's
departed! Every time he goes home he knows someone's been
there—and if it's not Rachel trying to communicate from
beyond, it's someone else who's trying to drive him stark
raving bonkers. So the Equalizers are on the case, with
the help of an El Paso psychic who's so dead-on, it's
scary. It's enough to make any good ol' gal's big hair
stand on end!
The investigation leads them toward one of their tiny West
Texas town's more unsavory characters—and, all things
considered, Debbie Sue would much rather be cuddling in
the arms of her hubby, the sexiest cop in the whole nation
of Texas. But the Equalizers will never say die . . . even
when dealing with the restless dead.
