Romance Contemporary

Amber Nichols has always settled for practical men. She watched her heartbroken mom go from man to man and vowed she would never be that kind of woman. However, her best friend Rochelle decides that what Amber needs after her recent breakup from Mr. Boring, who says Amber is a cold fish, is a highly energized romp in bed with a sexy baseball player staying in the house next door to her Great Point, Nantucket Sound home. She sends Amber there for a long weekend from her book reviewer position for a Boston newspaper.

Amber certainly agrees with Rochelle because the hunky, bronzed specimen of a man who is filling her view from the balcony is making her melt like butter. But can she have a brief affair with someone? Only if he leaves in a few days and she never sees him again.

Heath Donovan is tired and needs a few days rest from his job as manager of a Boston baseball team. He usually lets his players hang out at his house, but now he wants some alone time. Going from star player to responsible manager has been a little tougher than he thought. He has to find a way to make them a better team, so they can win more games. However, Heath isn't so out of sorts that he hasn't noticed the woman next door watching him. Later in the evening, he discovers her at a bar and can't believe that she is reading a book. Heath approaches Amber and discovers she is nothing like the throngs of women who throw themselves at him. Heath is attracted to Amber and offers her an open- ended invitation, which surprisingly for him, she accepts.

The fun continues in DOUBLE PLAY when Amber and Heath fall for each other. However, they have differing views on how and why the affair is to continue. Joanne Rock gives us her view on what double play means, and you might say in this case sexual attraction doesn't necessarily have to end in double play.

SUMMARY

Play-it-safe book reviewer Amber Nichols is so ready to let loose. Her wild one-night-stand target? Hottie baseball player Heath Donovan. Problem? He's not exactly who she thinks he is! Team coach Heath takes one look at Amber…and wants to make her melt under his touch. Groupies aren't usually his style… but this sexily distracting woman is different. She should be…because she's not exactly a groupie!

It's a hot, fast fling with incredible sex! Only it's soon coming to an end. Because temporary sex, even the earth- shaking variety, never leads to a home run. Unless these two players can let down their guards in time to let them both win this game...
