Mystery Amateur Sleuth | Mystery Woman Sleuth | Mystery Cozy

Who doesn't love those "Bridezilla" shows that are so popular these days? But what happens when the wedding planner is the "zilla" in the room? Chances are the results will be exciting!

When Skye Denison agreed to be the maid of honor at her younger cousin Riley's marriage, she had no idea that she would be expected to become the assistant to the "wedding planner to the stars," Belle Canfield. Skye resists at first, but relents in order to please her family, especially her beloved grandmother.

Pulling off a "Platinum" wedding in Scumble River would be tricky at best. Add in dealing with the slightly maniac, very controlling Belle, and Skye finds herself scurrying, carrying out the planner's orders and demands. But when Belle is found dead in the refrigerated flower storage unit, the wedding plans screech to a horrific stop. As the police investigate the murder, Skye lends her expertise as a psychologist to help her boyfriend, Police Chief Wally Boyd, to try and figure out who hated the beautiful but bossy wedding planner enough to kill her. And with Belle gone, it falls upon Skye to finish all of the wedding preparations for her cousin. Throw in a snooty matron of honor, a pack of wacky relatives, and an Elvis wedding, and it's soon apparent that Skye is going to pulling her hair out at some point before that bride gets down the aisle. This is probably not a good time for Wally to propose.

You have to admit, there's never a dull moment in Scumble River! Author Denise Swanson once again lends her talent for writing a fast-paced, suspenseful and fun cozy mystery with her 12th book in the Scumble River Mystery series, MURDER OF A WEDDING BELLE. Fans of the series will enjoy revisiting the quirky but loveable characters who inhabit the fictional town of Scumble River. First-time readers can quickly catch on to the action with plenty of back story.

SUMMARY

School psychologist Skye Denison is already in a tizzy of indecision contemplating her boyfriend Wally's marriage proposal when she very reluctantly agrees to act as maid of honor in her California cousin's over-the-top platinum-style wedding. What's more, she's expected to assist the control-freak wedding planner, which means being available to help 24-7. There goes Skye's much-needed summer break....

Then Skye discovers the flawlessly chic wedding planner lying not so flawlessly dead less than a week before the big event. Suddenly Skye is working double duty on two fronts: making sure every elaborate nuptial detail is executed perfectly, from the butterfly release to the martini luge, and helping the police find out who hated the bossy bridal consultant enough to bash her on the head. Can Skye get her cousin to the church on time — and save herself from a killer who may actually be on the guest list?
