Mystery Woman Sleuth

Tattoo used to be connected with sailors, bikers and hardcore rockers, but nowadays, with the tattoo shows on television, and shops springing up all over the place the stigma of being tattooed has lifted, and moms, dads, even grandmas have a little ink somewhere! (I've got eight myself!)

Karen E. Olson's series, the Tattoo Shop Mysteries, gives readers an inside look into the world of tattooing and the fast-paced world of Las Vegas.

Olson's latest book, PRETTY IN INK finds Brett Kavanaugh and the staff of her tattoo shop, The Painted Lady, knee- deep in mayhem, murder, and dramatic drag queens. Brett's high end shop is located among the shops at The Venetian hotel, where she and her crew create some of the most unique tattoo designs around. Their work was highly sought after, and Brett's latest project had been tattooing a bevy of drag queens for their new show, Nylons and Tattoos. So naturally Brett and company are invited for the show's premiere.

When one of the performers, "Britney Brassieres" aka Trevor McKay, is attacked mid-show by a stranger shooting a champagne cork into his chest, the club erupts into a mass of chaos and only Brett notices the hooded attacker has some unusual ink on his arm -- the queen of hearts. After Trevor mysteriously dies, it turns out that small tattoo, and the shiny jeweled brooch that was its inspiration, would be a clue in a complicated terrorist plot that would have the drag queens of Las Vegas terrified for their lives, and the entire city under the threat of a chemical attack. It becomes personal for Brett when her new apprentice Charlotte disappears, and evidence starts pointing towards her involvement in a plot that was way over her head.

With the reluctant help of her twin brother, police detective Tim Kavanaugh, her motley shop crew, and rival tattooist/love interest Jeff Coleman, Brett pieces the puzzle of the queen of hearts tattoo together, but will it be in time to stop a deadly ricin attack on Sin City? Once again, Karen E. Olson has created a thrilling, suspense-filled story that literally keeps you turning the pages as fast as you can to keep up with the action.

PRETTY IN INK is a great follow-up to THE MISSING INK, but also stands on its own as a superb mystery. Even if you aren't a fan of inked body art, this tale will satisfy any fan of intrigue and intricate mystery plots.

SUMMARY

Murder in the city of sin...

Brett Kavanaugh is a tattoo artist and owner of Vegas's hottest tattoo shop, The Painted Lady. And in her spare time, she does some sleuthing. After Brett and company ink Sin City's newest drag queens, they're invited to opening night at the strip's glamorous Nylon and Tattoos show-which ends in disaster when a stranger with a Queen of Hearts tattoo fatally injures Britney Brassieres with a champagne cork. And when another drag queen is found poisoned, it looks like someone's targeting Vegas's fabulous femmes...
