Romance Suspense

When you sit down to read a book do you chose it by the title, the author, the blurb or the cover? Do you pick it because of a review or a recommendation from a friend? When I sat down to read HOLDING OUT FOR A HERO by Helen Kay Dimon all I knew was that it was an author I had read previously and enjoyed, so what the pages would bring to me were quite surprising.

HOLDING OUT FOR A HERO is basically the story of Deanna Armstrong who hails from a well to do family, and whose nephew is currently in jail having been convicted of the brutal murders of his parents. Deanna however believes that her nephew Ryan is innocent and willing to use her vast resources to hire someone to help her prove this.

She sets her sites on Josh an embroiled DEA agent. She is certain that for the right amount of money he can look at the evidence and prove that Ryan couldn't possibly be guilty of the crime of which he was convicted.

Josh himself isn't sure that Ryan is innocent or that he should be working for Deanna in any capacity. However, he takes the case on, and tries to set ground rules, which don't truly last long for either Josh or Deanna. Their chemistry takes time to turn from enemies to friends to lovers, but that's what helps to make HOLDING OUT FOR A HERO a page turner...reading to see who truly committed the crime, and how long it's going to take for a relationship to go from infancy to full adulthood.

Who is going to be right... Josh or Deanna? For that answer you have to read HOLDING OUT FOR A HERO yourself.

I know that there are huge fans of Ms. Dimon's out there, and for them HOLDING OUT FOR A HERO might be a great way to start a new reading year. For people new to Ms. Dimon's work I would suggest Your Mouth Drives Me Crazy as the first read because characters from that story make cameo appearances in HOLDING OUT FOR A HERO and if you're like me you want to meet them in their first book rather than working backwards.

Now I have to investigate Ms. Dimon's website and find out if Derek is going to get a story. While I do that I hope you have fun reading her other titles!

SUMMARY

Deana Armstrong needs a hero - not for herself, but for the nephew all her money and time can't seem to get out of jail. Unfortunately, the best hero in all the Hawaiian Islands is set on turning in his badge and getting his excellent butt into another line of work. If that wasn't enough, Josh Windsor also has a big-time grudge against Deana herself. But if there's anything being rich, smart, and stubborn has taught Deana, it's never to settle for second best...Josh has had it with saving people. He's had it with getting hauled into court. And boy, has he ever had it with Deana. Or well, he hasn't had it. Yet. But the more she pops up sounding infuriating and looking good enough to eat, the more her hot bod and her cold case wriggle into his mind. And there's only so much even a hero can resist...
