Traveling among the stars can be a dream come true, even
when there are nightmarish people hunting you down. Lilly
and Phoenix are both on board with different destinations
in mind. Lilly is traveling incognito to her home planet of
Oasis to try and stop an ill-fated war perpetrated by the
Ravigans.
Raised by Michael, the only father she's ever known since
her own father was murdered by her mother, the code
of "Strength Honor Obedience Unity and Nobility" is
something she strives to uphold. Lilly is prepared to use
her unique gifts to aid her people and her uncle who rules
Oasis, the Sovereign Alexander. However, someone doesn't
want her to reach the Senate, and that someone has blown
her cover. Drawn to the transport tube of a man known only
as Phoenix, she gasps in surprise when he can not only hear
her but can converse with her as well -- mind to mind. Soon
she'll need this man not only as her new bodyguard, but to
love her and to take off the blinders put upon her eyes
against treachery most foul.
Sean Phoenix senses Lilly from the moment she walks on
board the transport. Sentenced to be forever placed in an
underground prison for avenging the deaths of his parents,
he needs to find a way to get out. When the transport is
attacked, Lilly is the answer to his dreams, even if he
didn't know exactly what kind of rescue he was dreaming of.
However, he gets more than he bargained for. It seems this
spitfire of integrity not only unleashes the gifts of his
mind, she also unleashes the protective dominance and love
within him. Aided by his good friend, Ruben, he goes to any
length to save her. Aided by his heart, he will do anything
he can to unleash Lilly's potential for love and life.
Colby Hodge (who also writes as Cindy Holby)
gives us a romping good time across the stars with this
futuristic tale of romance, revenge and renewal. Lilly and
Phoenix's sparring, at times, reminds one of the interplay
between Leia Organa and Han Solo in Lucas' Star Wars.
Meanwhile the witches of Circe prove to be only one of many
frightening parties ordering and holding death within their
grasps. It's a delightful tale that will carry the reader
along for an enjoyable jaunt away from the everyday world.
Do not revive without authorization. Those were the words
stamped on the cryo tube holding the prisoner. Gazing in
fascination at the bulging muscles of his arms, Lilly
wondered if the heavy cables binding his wrists and ankles
would be enough to hold him when he awoke from his enforced
sleep. Nor was she reassured by the crime committed by her
fellow passenger murder. Or his sentence, life, in the
deepest hole the legion could find.
Yet even sensing his rage and frustration within him, she
tried her fate to his when their ship was attacked. Chased
by Ravigans across the universe, she had no choice but to
put her trust in Phoenix. But how was he able to penetrate
her mind, filling it with teasing suggestions and hotly
sensual images, when that talent had always belonged
exclusively to the generations of grey=eyed women in her
line? Was the devil with the silver gaze the key to saving
her belonged garden planet of Oasis or just a common
criminal out to take for himself whatever he could his
hands on?
