KNIT THE SEASON by Kate Jacobs is the third book in the
Friday Night
Knitting Club series. When I read the first book I was
quite content and
didn't mind whether or not I got another book about these
characters.
However, when I read Knit Two I was in serious need
of another installment
in the series as I felt like too many loose ends were left
dangling...you might
say not properly cast off.
This book seems to do a good job of picking up the loose
threads from
Knit Two and properly completing the story. Dakota
who must surely have
suffered the most by losing her mother at such a young age
is not the only
member of the Friday Night Knitting Club trying to find
herself, and move on
while not letting the loss of their dear friend Georgia
haunt them.
As each woman is faced with the challenges of life they can
not help but
reflect on their friendship with Georgia, and they try to
impart some of the
wisdom they learned from Georgia to Dakota, but whether or
not Dakota will
get the lessons in time remains to be seen.
I felt as though KNIT THE SEASON was a fitting end to The
Friday Night Knitting
Club series, and am undecided whether or not I would want to
revisit these
characters. Ms. Jacobs shows hints of each woman's life in
the future, and I
feel fairly content in letting my own imagination take them on.
While I like series, and like even more when books stand
alone in case I end
up reading out of order, I would suggest that KNIT THE
SEASON not be read
until you have at least read Knit Two, or it might be
a tad confusing.
Another heartwarming Friday Night Knitting Club novel from
#1 New York Times–bestselling author Kate Jacobs.
