Harper Kane is taking a break from training for the Olympic
swimming trials to visit her brother Bobby in Oregon. She
and Bobby are headed for his home when they are ambushed by
unknown snipers and he is murdered. Harper barely escapes
the killers, but they are hot on her trail. It seems Bobby
has left her a syringe filled with an unknown serum and a
flash drive containing information worth killing for. When
Harper is accidently injected with the serum, she is given
powerful, killing psi abilities.
Rome Lucian is an agent for the government. After an
incident in which the men under his command were killed, he
has locked down his emotions and follows orders without
question. His order to bring in Harper, dead or alive, is
just another job, one he doesn't question, until he meets
her. Against his better judgment, he decides to trust her
and help her in her quest for revenge. But he again
questions his decisions after he sees Harper in action.
Amy Rench's FALLEN ROGUE has a great premise that
doesn't quite live up to its potential. The first few
chapters are exciting and fast-paced, but once Harper goes
on the run, the plot seems to fall apart. Harper's
motivation is clear, revenge for her brother's death, but
Rome's motivation is less clear. I had difficulty
understanding how Harper could trust him, let alone fall
for the guy. For me, this book failed to deliver a
believable adventure.
Harper Kane was well on her way to an Olympic gold medal
in swimming. But now she’ll never pass the doping test.
Oh, it’s not steroids. She doesn’t know what exactly she
was injected with—something so secret her brother died to
protect it, something that’s suddenly given her deadly psi
abilities she can’t quite control.
Special Agent Rome Lucian’s instructions are clear: Find
Kane and bring her in. She’s a threat that needs to be
terminated. What’s not clear is exactly who’s giving the
instructions. Rome can’t trust anything anymore, and his
only ally is the woman he’s been sent to kill, a woman who
can cause massive devastation with only her mind.
It’s sink or swim as the pair is caught in the murky
waters of a dark conspiracy the depths of which they can’t
even begin to fathom.
