In her latest book author Margot Early tackles
the very timely subject of dog fighting. I believe for many
this is a touchy subject, and one that while we might not
want in our romances is one that people need to become more
aware of. Bearing that thought in mind I applaud Ms. Early
for her efforts.
However, as I read HERE TO STAY I felt like much of the
focus was on the dogs, and the issues surrounding them,
rather than on Sissy and Elijah. Sissy and Elijah lived in
the same town growing up, but were from totally different
social classes, and yet they couldn't seem to stay away from
one another until the fateful night when Elijah decided that
the differences between them were too big to be meshed into
a future together.
Now, it's years later and Elijah is working for the Humane
Society and Sissy is poised to be the lady dog breeder
society wife that she was raised to be. Fate causes their
paths to meet again. What will happen this time around?
Will each of them leave the life they've established for a
chance to have a life together.
HERE TO STAY is flagged with the Everlasting Love tag which
I love. However, with the focus on the dogs almost more
than on the people it just didn't quite work for
me. As I said earlier I understand attempting to bring the
plight of abused animals into more focus, but not to the
extent where the relationship of your characters, and your
readers interest begins to suffer. That being said true
romance readers might be disappointed, but those who read to
garner information they might otherwise miss will enjoy HERE
TO STAY.
Afraid of losing the only man she's ever loved, Sissy
Workman kept the truth from her husband for years. She told
herself she was lying for all the right reasons. Did it
really matter that Elijah wasn't the father of their
firstborn son? They were so happy, and he was all she'd ever
wanted.
Now that Elijah knows, it's changed their relationship.
They're adrift, and the ties that once bound them together
have loosened. Sissy can feel him pulling away—her mistake
could destroy the love they've cherished over the years. The
last thing Sissy wants is for the truth to set her free—from
him.
