When I sit down with a new book from author Carla Cassidy, I know that I will be in for an entertaining suspenseful read, and therefore was looking forward to reading her newest book UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL.
Jordan Sampson thought that when she finished high school, and moved on to college her career path was established. Then one night her sister was brutally murdered, and Jordan dropped out of college and came home to try and assist her parents with their grief. Little could be done by Jordan in the grief department, but a new career path was set. She decided to become a police officer, with her eye on the goal of being a homicide detective.
Now a highly respected member of the homicide squad Jordan's newest case once again strikes a little too close to home. Someone is brutally murdering members of Jordan' high school cheerleading squad, and it is up to Jordan and her team to solve the murder before Jordan becomes a victim.
Murder isn't the only problem facing Jordan. She also has to try and understand why her preteen daughter would rather live with Dane, her ex-husband than with her, and resolve her issues about Clint, a high school boyfriend with whom she recently reconnected, and who is now pushing for a committed adult relationship.
Ms. Cassidy might not write suspense the most spine tingling, nightmare producing suspense books on the market, but they are in my opinion amongst the most enjoyable, and well written, and I look forward to each release with eager anticipation, and she is one of a select number of authors whose books do not linger on my TBR shelf.
