Romance Historical

When Alyee Bunnock wants to make a fresh start, she really knows how to change her life's direction by literally burying her past and taking on a new identity and responsibilities as Sister Terese at the small and relatively newly founded Everagis Abbey. In this new role, things seem to be going very well and Sister Terese turns out to be a natural leader that the other women at Everagis enjoying following, especially the very unnunlike roles they find themselves engaged in doing to protect their and the local farms from raiders. Meanwhile, Lachlan Sinclare has been tasked with finding the Alyee the Shrew and to bring her home, so her father can complete his plans to marry her off for money. While the highland warriors are welcomed at the Abbey, Sister Terese has a plan to have Lachan and his men leave quickly. For his part, Lachlan keeps vowing in his mind to leave Sister Terese alone or face burning in hell forever, but he is so drawn to this beautiful nun, he just can't bear to leave her and the other nuns alone when there are warring mercenaries in the area. Lachlan is willing to keep himself and his men in check and they vow to protect them until they heard what the Church has to say about this isolated and unprotected outpost. Despite his outward sunny nature, his intelligent mind is perplexed by facts that just don't add up for him. Finally, Alyee realizes he is getting too close to the truth and events force her to make a decision. How will Lachlan react? Will he help her or keep to his mission?

Readers, be warned! While Donna Fletcher's magical storytelling abilities can quickly swirl you in to the Highland mists of this mid-16th century tale, her tantalizing storyline and highly intriguing characters will not release you so easily! The characters are all well developed and interesting in their own right, and Piper is absolutely a true delight! Fletcher's existing fans will be happy with this latest addition to The Sinclare Brothers series and it is also a great read on its own! Enjoy!

SUMMARY

Lachlan Sinclare is on a thankless mission. Off to retrieve the homely, strewish daughter of a local clan leader so she can be married off, Lachlan just wants to get the job done and return home. But once he reaches the convent where the woman has been staying, the plan changes drastically. The daughter has died, and the handful of nuns left are without protection. Lachlan vows to stay until help can be found - and hopes that his attraction to the beautiful Sister Terese will fade. Alyce can't believe it! Her father actually plans to marry her off, after all she's done to spread rumors of her ugly looks and nature. Hiding her beauty away in a convent seemed like a perfect plan. But now this warrior refuses to leave. Little does he know that the ladies don't need any protection. Pretending to be nuns should have been enough, but now Alyce is in a bind of her own making. Can she convince the men to go before they expose all the 'convent's' secrets...and before Lachlan steals her heart?
