After her miscarriage, Feisty Bree O'Brien flees Chesapeake
Shores and the man she loves with no explanation. Jake
Collins is now left alone to mourn the loss of his love and
his child. Leaving Jake, Bree is determined to follow her
dreams of becoming a successful playwright in Chicago. The
fascinating and famous playwright Martin "Marty" Demming
becomes her mentor, as well as her lover. Following Bree's visit home for the opening of her sister's
Inn at Eagle Point, she finds herself staying and opening
Flowers on Main, a small flower shop. Bree is forced to
purchase her inventory from Jake, as he is the best and
closest nursery. In a tangle of conflicted emotions, Bree
and Jake try to recover what they lost six years ago, as
they both still carry the love they once shared even. They
find their faith in one another has been badly shaken. Even
the determination Jake has to avoid Bree is not enough to
prevent their destination. At Jake's suggestion, Bree is excited at the prospect of
opening a community theater in which to produce her plays.
As she feels she has finally convinced Jake of her devotion
and love for a new beginning, Marty appears to create doubt
and offer Bree the fame she deserves in presenting her play
in Chicago. Jake is again devastated and feels the loss,
even though Bree strives to convince him it is a dream she
no longer desires. FLOWERS ON MAIN, the second novel in the Chesapeake Shores
series, is another wonderful insightful story of the
O'Brien family. The closeness of the siblings and the
continuing saga of the impending reconciliation of their
parents continues. The characters created by Sherryl
Woods continue to be warm, loving and caring
individuals, willing to fight for each other in their
search for happiness. The setting at a beautiful seaside
creates a very colorful background for a very warm and
beautiful story that will touch your soul.
SUMMARY
When her last two plays are dismal failures and her
relationship with her mentor falls apart, writer Bree
O'Brien abandons Chicago and the regional theater where she
hoped to make a name for herself to return home. Opening
Flowers on Main promises to bring her a new challenge and a
new kind of fulfillment. But not all is peaceful and serene in Chesapeake Shores,
with her estranged mother on the scene and her ex-lover on
the warpath. Jake Collins has plenty of reasons to want Bree
out of his life, and one reason to want her to stay: he's
still in love with her.

I've been wanting to read this book. It's definitely on my list of books to look for when I'm shopping! (LuAnn Morgan 3:47pm May 11, 2009)
I think our dreams change as we grow and we are always making course corrections along the way. Often we set our goals higher, making it more challenging. Wouldn't life be boring without a challenge? Look forward to reading your new book. (Patricia Barraclough 12:00pm May 12, 2009)
