Autumn MacNeil was just hoping to win the prize money when
she dressed up as her best friend at the masquerade. She
never expected to be kidnapped due to a case of mistaken
identity. Furthermore, she could not have been kidnapped
at a more inconvenient time as she needs to be back in
Skagway by Monday for a meeting at the bank. Now she is in
the hands of a group of outlaws who need a nurse, and that
particular set of skills is not in her singing repertoire.
Even after they figure out she is not a nurse, they seem to
treat her fairly. In fact, Autumn learns that they are
trying to prove that they are innocent of their accused
crimes. Can she trust anything that they say? What
lengths will she go to in order to be returned to her home?
Quinn Rowlan needs a doctor to help his brother who was
injured in a skirmish with some criminals. The only
problem is that he and his friends are considered outlaws.
Quinn is so desperate he kidnaps a nurse only to realize
that he grabbed the wrong woman. He cannot let her leave
and contact the authorities, so she is stuck with him until
he can clear his and his friend's names. He knows the
leader is stationed in Skagway, so maybe he can use Autumn
to help his cause. Unfortunately, he is extremely
attracted to Autumn and that could prove to be a
distraction that he does not need. Will she be agreeable
to helping an outlaw? Can he trust her to not to report
him to the authorities?
Kate Bridges has penned an excellent historical romance.
She immediately whisks us away on a grand adventure through
the wilds of the Alaskan frontier. Ms. Bridges paints
beautiful landscapes with her words. She also adds an air
of mystery to her characters. It seems that the further we
delve into any of the characters the more we realize that
appearances truly are deceiving. Autumn and Quinn are
great foils for one another, and I was sad to see their
story end. WANTED IN ALASKA seems to have everything --
vivid imagery, multi-faceted characters, fast-paced action,
and blossoming romance. This is a delightful romantic
jewel, and I am ready to read Ms. Bridges' next historical
escapade.
