Constance Plyd is having a bad day. She's determined to get
her soon-to-be-ex to sign the divorce papers, after she
cleans up the mess of a bubble-filled kitchen, the result
of Jimmy's latest attempt at help by putting laundry
detergent in the dishwasher. She's saved from a
confrontation with Jimmy when she hears a racket in the
garage. Sure she's going to find yet another Jimmy-
disaster, she's only partially right. She finds Jimmy face-
down on the floor with a screw-driver poking out of his
back. Standing over him is the culprit, a dark man wearing
a baseball cap who leaves a demonic calling card that
disappears as quickly as he does, leaving Constance the
prime suspect in Jimmy's murder.
Nathan Garrett was known as a love-'em-and-leave-'em ladies
man in his teenage years, rumored to notch his bedpost with
the local virgins he'd seduced. Constance had been number
22, and she's never forgiven him, especially since Jimmy
was the rebound result. But Nathan has changed his wild
ways and is now the local sheriff. Constance is not
feeling any more favorably toward him when it looks like
Nathan is going to have to arrest her for Jimmy's murder.
It turns out Jimmy was murdered in the hopes of shocking
Constance into having visions. Destined to be a minor
prophet, Jimmy's unexpected death has the desired results
and Constance begins seeing the future. Things aren't
looking good for the world, with visions of Satan on earth
and pop stars being the mother of his son. With the help of
Jimmy, who's in her life as a ghost until the mystery of
his death is resolved, a helpful dog that's more than he
appears to be and a skeptical Nathan, Constance is in a
race against time to stay out of jail and thwart Satan's
evil plans.
Cara Lockwood's EVERY DEMON HAS HIS DAY is a
cleverly plotted read. Constance is a fun heroine, her
scenes with Jimmy are hilarious and the good vs. evil
battle is truly entertaining. Nathan and Constance's
romance is heartwarming, and the scenes between Constance
and the demons and Jimmy are sure to bring on the laughs.
EVERY DEMON HAS HIS DAY will have readers eagerly awaiting
the next in this series.
Whipping up prize-winning chicken fried
steak...fighting demonic forces...East Texas gals can do
it all!
In her wildest dreams, Constance Plyd never
thought she'd see dead people. Then again, she never
thought she'd be hit on by her ex-husband at his own
funeral...or be the prime suspect in his murder.
Fortunately for Constance, irresistibly sexy sheriff
Nathan Garrett wants to believe her explanation -- that a
card-carrying demon in a black suit killed Jimmy in the
garage -- or maybe he wants something more. Either way,
all signs are leading to a showdown of hellish
proportions, with Constance at the heart of the battle,
when the Devil and would-be mother of the Antichrist (a
pop princess wannabe) descends on Crockett County. Sure,
she'd rather be cooking up a storm for the next state
fair, but if she's going to be the Chosen One, at least
Constance can give a few demons a Texas-style butt
kicking....
