Romance Suspense

Lucie Evans has been at odds with her boss, Sawyer McNamara, for quite awhile, and apparently he is not about to forgive her for the mistake they both made. She has taken every trash job he has thrown at her, but she has finally reached her limit. When she receives an offer to be a personal bodyguard for Cara Bedell, a billionaire heiress, she jumps at the chance to be as far away from Sawyer as she can get. Her first real assignment takes her to South America where Cara is trying to finalize a deal with one of the two prominent oil companies. However, things go terribly wrong, and Lucie is kidnapped and held captive. She can only hope that Cara makes the right decisions since the kidnappers luckily grabbed the wrong person. Will Lucie be able to protect Cara's identity? Will she ever be rescued?

Sawyer McNamara thought Lucie's leaving would help relieve the guilt that he has felt all these years. Unfortunately, nothing seems to help him forget the mistakes of the past. When he learns that Lucie has been kidnapped, he knows that he will personally head up the retrieval mission. He will not trust anyone else with her. Even if they bring her to safety, they will not be able to rest completely until the man behind the kidnapping is caught. It seems that someone wants Cara dead, and will stop at nothing to achieve their desire. Being in close contact with Lucie again reminds him of all that has been lost. Does he have the courage to leave the past in the past and start over? Or will he push away this last chance that he is being given?

Beverly Barton has written a marvelous romantic suspense. This story concludes The Protectors series, yet it is the first book that I have read in it. I was completely engrossed in the story line, and I did not feel that I had missed anything from not having read any of the other books. This story is packed with action, suspense, and lots of romance. There are a couple of secondary story lines going on with romance aplenty. I loved the chemistry and tension between Sawyer and Lucie, and the history between them explains a lot. DYING FOR YOU is an excellent story, and one that will take your breath away.

SUMMARY

It was the job of her dreams...
but it became her worst nightmare...

All private security agent Lucie Evans wanted was a fresh start--and the chance to show Sawyer McNamara, her ex-boss, that she no longer craved his absolution for a crime she didn't commit. So when the offer of a trip to South America as the personal bodyguard to a billionaire heiress came up, Lucie jumped at the prospect of leaving the Dundee Agency behind. Then the nightmare began. Kidnapped in a case of mistaken identity, suddenly Lucie's only hope of survival rested with the one man she never wanted to see again...

Sawyer had spent years convincing himself that all he felt for Lucie was contempt--but with her life at stake, he was forced to face his true feelings. Though it may be a case of too little, too late. Because Lucie's captor wouldn't rest until she was silenced... once and for all.
