The first book in P.C and Kristin Cast's House Of
Night series is MARKED. After being "marked" by a
vampire tracker, Zoey begs her mom to send her to the House
of Night School for Vampires. Instead her mom and stepfather
(or stepLOSER as Zoey calls him) ask over Dr. Asher, their
family shrink, and the people from their church to have them
pray for her. While the family wait for their guests to
arrive, Zoey say's she's going to lay in her room, but
instead Zoey climbs out her bedroom window and drives to her
grandmother's house. She starts looking around for her
grandmother in her lavender farm, and suddenly Zoey starts
getting dizzy, falls over, and when she wakes up she's
floating looking down on herself. Her grandmother's voice
wakes her up, and after Zoey tells her about being "marked"
the two of them flee to the House of Night so Zoey can start
her new life!!!
I liked MARKED because Zoey was able to make so
many friends so fast. I loved the book so much I couldn't
put it down, I read it at school, in the car, and as soon as
I finished my home work!!!! You should go buy it and start
reading it if you haven't already. There are 4 books in the
series, so start reading now so you can read the 5th book
when it comes out March 10th!
The House of Night series is set in a world very much like
our own, except in 16-year-old Zoey Redbird's world,
vampyres have always existed.
In this first book in the
series, Zoey enters the House of Night, a school where,
after having undergone the Change, she will train to become
an adult vampire--that is, if she makes it through the
Change. Not all of those who are chosen do. It’s tough to
begin a new life, away from her parents and friends, and on
top of that, Zoey finds she is no average fledgling. She
has been Marked as special by the vampyre Goddess, Nyx.
But she is not the only fledgling at the House of Night
with special powers. When she discovers that the leader of
the Dark Daughters, the school's most elite club, is
misusing her Goddess-given gifts, Zoey must look deep
within herself for the courage to embrace her destiny--with
a little help from her new vampyre friends.
