After her patient dies, home health nurse Hannah Grey
unwisely engages in an argument with the patient's family.
They retaliate by discrediting her and leaving her career
in tatters. With her license under suspension, her choices
for employment are nonexistent. When Carrick Manly offers
her a job in neighboring Maine caring for his reclusive
elderly mother, Hannah accepts. After initial difficulties,
Melinda Manly and Hannah form a friendship. Melinda trust
no one, especially her son. Believing her death is
imminent, Melinda tells Hannah a dangerous secret from her
past. After her confession, Melinda is murdered and Hannah
is the number-one suspect. With no one believing in her
innocence, Hannah flees the police -- and a killer.
Hired by his half-brother, Gabriel Prescott keeps Hannah
under surveillance. Watching the beautiful woman's
competent care of Mrs. Manly, Gabriel has difficulty
believing she is a thief and a murderer. When Melinda Manly
is murdered and Hannah runs, Gabriel puts all his energy
into finding the woman who captured his imagination and
heart. It takes months, but Gabriel does locate Hannah,
except now he has more questions than answers. Someone is
lying and the wrong choice could lead to disaster.
Ms. Dodd concludes two series, the Fortune Hunters and the
Prescott Family, with a tale filled with passion, danger
and excitement. It's often poignant as Gabriel and Hannah
each wants a family but are too scared to trust their
instincts. An excellent romantic suspense that is difficult
to put down.
Home care nurse Hannah Grey is dedicated to her patient,
an aging widow still tainted by the financial scandal her
late husband perpetrated. She makes Hannah promise that
upon her death, she’ll right the family’s wrongs, and
gives Hannah her offshore account’s access codes.
But Carrick Manly will do anything to discover where his
family’s fortunes lie— including kill his own mother.
Fearing for her life, and desperate not to betray the
widow, Hannah flees. And when Carrick’s half-brother,
Gabriel, tracks her down in Houston, Hannah must trust her
own instincts—and her heart—to survive.
