Private investigator Rick Carson is sent to the Price estate to investigate the death of Jordan Price's husband, Senator Daniel Price. Although her circle of family and friends insists that Jordan couldn't possibly be a murdered, Rick is inclined to think otherwise. Especially when he discovers that Jordan has a history of unusual deaths in her past.

He doesn't want to like her, much less trust her. But against his better instincts, he finds himself drawn to her.

And her to him. Jordan Price would like this all to go away. She insists she's innocent of her husband's death, even when uncovered information begins to suggest otherwise. The last thing she wants is an investigation but once her brother-in-law contacts the Powell agency, it's best if she goes along. It doesn't help that she is attracted to the very man who is looking to nail her for murder.

Beverly Barton keeps the reader guessing to the end, and not only guessing but changing the most likely suspect. Plot twists and red herrings come with rapid fire, all as the underlying romantic tension between Jordan and Rick escalates.

A fun, meaty romantic suspense, with loads of potential suspects and a plot that thickens when they too begin to disappear. Then, there's the subplot of Griffin Powell and his unusual friends, that makes you wish the next book with a Griffin Agency thread were on shelves now.

COLD HEARTED is a hot-blooded and warm-hearted read.
