In the Elite world of New York's high society, Casey feels
like an outsider. Moving in cliques where the girls have
money, style and a strong sense of who they are causes
Casey to doubt herself and struggle to fit in. But Drew
loves her, and even though she feels a little guilty about
how ultra-snotty Madison is taking the fact that Casey is
dating her ex-boyfriend, life still looks darned good.
But like most things in the teen years, Casey finds that
her good feelings ebb and flow. It is clear Drew still has
some kind of connection to Madison, and he's been distant
lately.
Madison is being challenged by her own demons. She still
can't believe Drew fell for that little hick Casey, and
she's thrilled with the opportunity to model. Maybe. It
seems that nothing is going as she planned.
This second book in the Elite series is a twist on the
standard ups and downs of teenage life. While these kids
have more money (with the exception of Casey), they suffer
the same insecurities and angst the rest of the teenage
world does. While the writing is excellent, I struggled a
little with this subject matter. I'd like to see the author
shed some light for teens on the subjects that challenge
them. Instead, these books feel a little like the emptiness
of a soap opera. Lots of drama, little depth. And yet,
despite that, I will read the next book; because Ms. Banash
does a good job at creating compelling characters, and I
want to know what happens.
The Bramford building’s newest resident and
small-town transplant Casey McCloy is adapting to life in
the Big Apple and loving it. She’s got the look, the
attitude, and a delish new boyfriend, Drew Van Allen. But
she’s starting to have second thoughts as to whether
the “New York” Casey is the real Casey. And she’s not so
sure she likes herself much anymore. She’s not the only
one.
Madison Macallister has always had her Manolo
Blahniks firmly planted on the top rung of the social
ladder—until that corn-fed cow Casey stole Drew away from
her and made her look the fool. So what if Madison wasn’t
exactly dating Drew at the time? She wanted him. And
everyone knows that Madison gets what she wants, like Drew—
and a little revenge.
