Gia Felice works as a publicist for a science fiction and
fantasy publishing house called Speculation. Whereas the
fiction books they publish are about vampires and
werewolves, the authors themselves are not! Gia has to deal
with authors who are indeed the stuff fantasy and paranormal
legends are made of. Her best friend, Lola, is a werewolf,
and Gia is dating Johnny, a vampire. Even though she wants
to be Johnny's girlfriend, Gia may be taking her life into
her own hands since Johnny lusts for her blood as much as he
lusts for her body. If they go too far, Gia could end up his
victim, in either a body bag or become one of the undead.
Not only does Gia have the stress of her job and the
constant daily grind of nightly books tours and outlandish
parties, one of her top vampire authors, Bella Nightshade,
wants Gia to uses her Rolodex and find the man who changed
her. She wants revenge against him and feels that Gia is the
only one who can help her. The first rule in publicity is
that there is no crying allowed, but there is no rule about
dealing with vicious vampires who are out for your blood.
Gia has so much going for her, but also has to keep on her
toes and watch her neck because she may become a very dead
publicist, especially if she decides to go that final step
with Johnny.
NECKING is an interesting look at the world of publishing,
even if most of the authors are the walking dead. Gia is a
witty and refreshing narrator who shows the reader what her
life is like on the job and how dangerous it really is. You
want Gia to find happiness with Johnny even if he is so very
wrong for her because he could end up killing her in the
heat of passion.
Chris Salvatore has written a chick-lit type of paranormal
that has some laughs and a quirky type of romance between
the human narrator her semi undead boyfriend who is very
much a gentleman but still has times where the blood lust
consumes him. Will Gia stay human or give into the urge to
become a vampire like her clients? For that answer,
definitely give NECKING a try. It is one book that has a
bite in more ways than one.
He always knew she was exactly his type -- B Positive
Gia Felice has a Rolodex full of vampires, werewolves,
witches, and aliens -- not to mention the livestock
suppliers, undead-friendly hotels, and sleazy bars that
cater to her clients' more carnal needs. Sometimes being
the premier book publicist to the underworld can suck --
literally. Especially if you're human. Especially if
you've got the hots for irresistible Johnny and his sly
half smile that shows just a little fang.
Her best friend, Lola, a werewolf, can't talk any sense
into her, and now Gia's agreed to help Belladonna
Nightshade, a New York Times bestselling vampire
author, find the supernatural killing machine who changed
Bella centuries ago...if he doesn't find Gia first.
Yesterday, Gia's biggest problem was how to get an alien
with a metal skeleton through airport security. Today
she's got a bloodthirsty boyfriend dying to get into her
pants, and an evil, centuries-old vampire on the hunt for
her. Who knew publicity was such a deadly business?
