I believe that if you read romance then surely you are a
romantic at heart. To me this means we dream of a love
that lasts a lifetime, and can withstand whatever
obstacles come along. In her latest book A MAN FROM TUSCANY. Catherine Spencer
has written of such a love. Anna, was just eighteen when
she met Marco on a trip abroad. The attraction between
them was fast and furious, and when Anna had to return to
America it was with the understanding that they would soon
be together again never to be separated. However, World War II was just beginning and Marco was
incarcerated and soon believed to have perished. Anna
alone in America was beginning to suspect that she might
have brought home a very special souvenir. When dear
friend and life long neighbor Brian Wexley offered
marriage Anna took saw it as her only option. As the war ended word arrived that Marco had not died as
previously thought, but was alive and rebuilding his life
in Italy. Torn Anna doesn't know whether or not to tell
Marco about the birth of his son, whom Brian has raised as
his own or to pretend that nothing has happened and the
past is the past. However, a true love cannot be denied, and a long distance
relationship is once again established however this time
there are severe limitations. Will the love that Anna and
Marco had bloom or fade with the new found limits? I personally love an emotional book and don't mind crying
as I read. For me when Harlequin offered the Everlasting
Love line I had found my perfect read. When they absorbed
it into the SuperRomance Line I was a little hesitant.
However, if all the books are of the caliber of A MAN FROM
TUSCANY I have little to fear. I've not previously read Ms. Spencer, but do believe I
have to go exploring and see what her backlist has to
offer.
SUMMARY
The Past: It's 1939, and eighteen-year-old Anna meets
Marco in Italy. They fall madly in love, a love she knows
will last forever. Even though, within months, they're
separated by war. Even though she's told that Marco is
dead.… The Present: Anna, who'd entered into a marriage of
convenience, is widowed, and so is Marco. Long after the
war, she discovered that he'd survived. Now she wants to
return to Italy, to Marco, for one final visit. The Future: Anna's adored granddaughter, Carly,
accompanies her—and when Carly begins to fall for Marco's
grandson, she wonders if they can have the life together
their grandparents never could.
