Reyes, a fierce Lord of the Underworld, holds within him
the demon of pain. He no longer remembers how his life was
before the warriors opened Pandora's box, and he was
consigned to living a torturous existence. He is
constantly cutting himself or doing some type of damage to
sate his demon; however, his demon is quiet when he is
around Danika, one of four women another Lord has been
ordered to kill. Reyes has taken care of the threat his
fellow warrior poses to the women, but when he learns that
hunters have captured Danika; he knows the only safe place
for her is by his side. Have the hunters convinced her
that he and his friends are monsters? Will she come
willingly with him? Will he and his demon ever stop
craving this woman?
Danika Ford and her family are on the run since they were
kidnapped and released by the Lords in Budapest. They were
told to run for their lives, and they split up to try to
make it harder for them to be killed. Danika has been
trying to hide from the nightmares that plague her at
night, and the very real monsters that hunt her during the
day. By the time she is captured by hunters, she has no
idea if the rest of her family is still alive. The hunters
tell her about the Lords, how they are demons and need to
be destroyed. The hunters know that the Lords will come
for her, and they want to use her to gain inside
information. She agrees readily in order to see her
family, but the more she is around Reyes, the more she has
second thoughts about betrayal. Who exactly are the bad
guys? Where is her family? Why is she so attracted to a
man who is possessed by a demon?
Gena Showalter has created another exciting adventure for
the Lords of the Underworld. It has been fun seeing
glimpses of Reyes and Danika in the other books, but their
story is well worth the wait. It is amazing that though
storms rage around and within the Lords, they are able to
find a woman who brings tranquility to their existence.
Ms. Showalter has laid the groundwork, and now the hunt is
on for Pandora's box. The hunters want it to destroy the
Lords and bring peace. The Lords want it ensure their
survival. This book sets the stage for future tales, and I
am looking forward to all of the arrogant Lords being
brought to their knees by a woman. THE DARKEST PLEASURE
brings a tidal wave of passion and pain that catches the
reader off guard, but carries them through this fabulous
tale.
He can bear any pain but the thought of losing her…
Reyes is a man possessed. Bound by the demon of pain, he
is forbidden to know pleasure. Yet he craves a mortal man,
Danika Ford, more than breath and will do anything to claim
her—even defy the gods.
Danika is on the run. For months, she’s eluded the Lords
of the Underworld, immortal warriors who won’t rest until
she and her family have been destroyed. But her dreams are
haunted by Reyes, the warrior whose searing touch she can’t
forget. Yet a future together could mean death to all they
both hold dear. . .
