Battered and beaten, the once handsome and lively warrior, Ewan Fraser, was unkindly hauled to the floor before the new MacLeod Laird. Pride runs high in the highlands and especially on the Isle of Skye in 1460, but, despite the pain, Ewan could not believe it had come to this. Never had he dreamed that the lovely Brianna MacLeod, the woman he had loved and wanted to marry since childhood would react like this and be so cruel!
Could this really be the same happy lass that he had given his flute to as a token of his love? Brought to her bedchamber in chains, could he really trust that the food and healing potions were not poisoned? What was she up to?
Despite her heartache, Brianna had to stay firmly in control. She was sick of the feuding that had brought about the death of her husband as well as the loss of her unborn child from the grief. She felt that only by having a child that had the bloodlines of both the Frasers and the MacLeods. She couldn't understand why Callum, Ewan's twin brother, had killed her husband, but she was bound and determined to keep Ewan in chains until she was pregnant.
You too will want to find out how the chains of love got so tangled as you immerse yourself in this hot and sexy medieval romance. You will relish the humourous interplays and double entendres between the Callum and Brianna as they continue to shift the balance between who is control of the other's mind and body. While fans of erotic romances will lap this one up, it may be almost a little too hot to handle for others, but not to worry. This one is so good, you'll want to keep turning the pages to find out what happens next.
Hope Tarr has certainly established herself for writing sexy and sophisticated reads! The story's strong plot, historical setting, wonderful repartee and strong character development, including those of the secondary characters, will be sure to captivate. I fully enjoyed Brianna in her leadership role as laird and how she keep her independent spirit while contending with ideas of others over this nontraditional role. I also appreciated Tarr's skilled writing in setting an historical context, especially with bringing in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales to the love mix, although methinks, it should have been a precious manuscript and not a precious volume. As I love my Scottish warriors to be able to read and have a sense of humour, I quite enjoyed the lively banter and being able to daydream about a male like Ewan. I am sure you too will be verry pleased by this very sensual and well-written Blaze Historical romance.
