Nightmares of her mother's murder have plagued Lady Aimee
Daventry for the past 10 years, but she has no recollection
of the actual murder. For the past few months, she's been
remembering bits and pieces in her dreams with increasing
memories of her mother trying to give her a message. In a
weak moment at a party, Aimee tells Royce Grenville of the
increased frequency of her nightmares and her belief that
there's a memory just beyond her grasp. After that
conversation, someone attacks Aimee.
Royce Grenville, Viscount Stonehurst, rarely attends
society events. Since his injury at Waterloo, he prefers to
stay isolated at his estate. Royce was the "spare" heir,
but with his brother's tragic death, Royce inherited the
title. His father swore Royce was cursed and damned him
with every breath. After years of listening to this vicious
spew, Royce believes it. He stays away, especially from
Aimee. Even though society perceives Aimee as a shy little
mouse, Royce sees a beautiful woman who deserves a
happiness he cannot provide.
Aimee's father begs Royce to take her away until they can
find the culprit. With an elderly chaperone, Royce whisk
Aimee to his estate. While waiting for news, their
attraction flares, but the demons of the past interfere.
Until those demons are put to rest, Aimee and Royce cannot
have a future.
Ms. Logan concludes her Daventry sister trilogy as she
peels the final layer of subterfuge from the murder.
Increasing the tension and giving added dimension to the
characters, she takes the weaker sister and pairs her with
a physically and emotionally scarred man to expose the
mastermind behind the killings. A good, solid read with
equal parts mystery and romance.
What woman could resist such a passionate protector as
Royce Grenville, Viscount Stonehurst? Certainly not I,
Lady Aimee Daventry. Ten years ago, I was the sole witness
to my mother's scandalous murder. Now the memory of that
fateful day has begun to haunt my dreams. And only I can
finally bring the fiend to justice . . . if he doesn't
find me first. With my life in grave danger, Royce is only
too willing to watch over me.
The last time I saw
Royce I was just a girl. I was drawn to him even then,
though he returned from war with dark secrets of his own.
I've sworn that nothing will keep me from avenging my
mother . . . but with my desire for the devastatingly
handsome Royce raging out of control, how can I resist the
perfect seduction?
