Becca Thomas, a 38 year old Fire Behavior Analyst, realizes
the one firefighter she didn't plan to see ever again, Aiden
"Spider" Rodas, is also in Montana battling one of the last
wildfires of the season. She seduced the hotshot in a Las
Vegas one night stand with the express purpose of getting
pregnant. Now, almost eight months later they are thrown
together and seeing each other for the first time since that
night. Aiden quickly realizes the baby must be his and he
wants to have a part in raising him--or her.
A strong assertive older woman with a plan and a younger
fun-loving confirmed bachelor strike plenty of sparks but
the fire itself is the real star of this page turning story.
This is the third in author Melinda Curtis' series on the
firefighters known as "hotshots"; a select group of men and
women who hike up mountains to fight fire with a shovel as
their only tool. Definitely worth the read—and I'll look for
the next book in the series coming in May 2006.
Becca Thomas is thrilled to be pregnant, even though it
means bringing up her baby alone. At thirty-eight, this may
be her last chance to have a child. And she doesn't expect
to see Aiden Rodas again — doesn't think that a freewheeling
younger man like him would even want to be a father.
Wrong
Aiden may live the life of a devil-may-care wildland
firefighter, but he's not going to walk away from his
responsibilities, no matter how unexpected they are. His
challenge now is making Becca see that their child needs
both of them. An even bigger challenge will be to make her
realize that this expectant father has fallen in love with a
certain mother-to-be!
