The Breeds are test tube babies created by mixing human and
animal DNA. The results are more-than-human super soldiers.
They are bred, raised, conditioned, trained and controlled
by the military. Or that was the plan. Who would guess that
the "animals" would have ideas of their own. Unexpected
things can happen when you mess with Mother Nature. Once
contained in government training centers, the Breeds
escaped to live life on their own terms. Not that they're
not still hunted. The Breeds have enemies -- powerful men in
high places who plot the Breeds' eventual demise. But
the "animals" have gone mainstream. The public now knows
about them and, for the time being, public sentiment is on
their side.
Tanner Reynolds is a public relations nightmare for General
Cyrus Tallant and the Genetics Council he heads. Handsome
and charismatic, Tanner thrives in the public eye. He's
everything Cyrus doesn't want the public to consider when
they think of the Breeds. A Bengal Breed, Tanner's public
face is a far cry from the man he truly is. When Cyrus
attacks the Breeds' base, Tanner retaliates by kidnapping
the general's daughter, Scheme. What Tanner does not know
is that Scheme has been working undercover for the Bureau
of Breed Affairs for years. In the course of her undercover
work, Scheme has collected enough evidence to bring down
her father and his cronies.
Failing to completely cover her tracks after her last job,
Cyrus now knows that his daughter has betrayed him and he
orders her death. Before the order can be carried out,
Tanner grabs Scheme and takes her to an underground
hideaway where she is safe from Cyrus and the Bureau, both
of whom want her back. For now she's safe from both
factions, one who wants to use her and the other who wants
her dead. Tanner wants her too and Scheme finds herself
wondering if she shouldn't just take her chances with the
assassins above ground rather than trying to tame the Breed
below ground in his lair.
Ladies, ladies...are you ready for the Breeds? Hot, hard and
prepared for just about anything. If you don't think you
can handle these alpha males, then by all means stay away.
Stick with your Regency tea parties and waltzes. These guys
aren't much for teacakes and dancing. What they are is
sinfully sensual and determined to take what is theirs and
come out on top. The language is frank, the sex explicit
and the plot is all there. The character development and
story arc have not been sacrificed for the sake of erotica,
as sometimes is the case. This series, first published by
Ellora's Cave and now gone more mainstream with Berkley
Sensation, is well-worth checking out.
A sexy paranormal series set in a world where genetically
altered Breeds and the humans who created them sometimes
come together in the fiercest of passions.
After the Feline Breeds' main base is attacked, Tanner
desires revenge. So he kidnaps Scheme Tallant - the
daughter of a one-time high-ranking member of the Genetics
Council. But when Tanner discovers that Scheme herself is a
target of her father's ruthless mission, his vengeance
takes a back seat to saving the life of the woman he hopes
to claim as his mate.
