Romance Contemporary

Darcy McDaniel receives tickets to Cancun for her birthday from her very rich husband, Warren. Upon her return to Dallas, Darcy finds herself deserted by Warren, everything she owns sold, including her house and personal items, all the bank accounts closed and the credit cards maxed out. Darcy learns that her husband has also embezzled $300,000 from his employer.

Darcy, being a "high maintenance" woman, finds it difficult understanding how her husband could leave her high and dry and then disappear. After getting her dog from the kennel and making the humiliating transition to staying again with her parents (in a trailer court, no less!), she's shocked when her precious Mercedes Benz convertible is repossessed by the handsome, but cold-hearted, repo man, John Stark.

Darcy cannot comprehend working for a living and sets out to find another rich man. Instead, she ends up working as a secretary for the repo man, much to his chagrin. Needing clothes, Darcy is horrified when John takes her shopping at Wal-Mart rather than loaning her the money. Darcy is reduced from Caviar, Gucci and Starbuck's to lower-class trailer park life. As a means of getting the money she desperately needs, Darcy's desire to be a repo agent is uppermost in her mind.

Darcy's husband's very rich and young boss is playing a game with Darcy thinking he can "buy" her favors. By this time, John has fallen head-over-heels in love with Darcy -- and she with him. Now, a power-struggle occurs between the two men, and Darcy must decide between the love offered by John and the high-society comfort offered by Jeremy.

HOT WHEELS AND HIGH HEELS is a whimsical, funny story that keeps you chuckling and on edge waiting to see what Darcy comes up with next. I loved the characters and the genuine feelings Jane Graves gives to them, as well as her great sense of humor. I look forward to more of this author's entertaining stories.

SUMMARY

Trophy wife Darcy McDaniel has just discovered that, thanks to her embezzling husband, her posh, upper-class life is gone for good. Now she's trading her suburban palace for a trailer park and her weekly salon appointments for a job. Darcy needs a new man--fast--one who'll keep her in the manner she darn well deserves. Problem is, the hottest prospect around is the my-way-or-the-highway hunk who's making off with her beloved Mercedes!

Ex-cop turned repo man John Stark is sure that hiring the furious blonde in his headlights is a colossal mistake. He knows Darcy's high-maintenance, designer-labels-only type--after all, he's used to taking their cars. But he never expected this hellion to have the smarts and the spunk to go from receptionist to repo agent in record time...or to drive him insane with desire. She's the last thing this tall, dark, and dangerous loner needs...and everything he never knew he wanted.
