Thriller

Sabrina Galloway leaves her native Chicago and relocates in the South in order to be near her father, who admitted himself to a mental institution near Tallahassee. Sabrina is a well respected scientist at EchoEnergy, a company that uses slaughter house waste and turns it into alternative fuel. She works on a team with four other scientists headed by Dr. Dwight Lansik. When Dr. Lansik just disappears one morning, Sabrina suspects foul play since she has discovered that one of the reactors that should not have been opened was spewing out toxic waste. Unwittingly she puts her life in danger when she reports this to EchoEnergy's owner.

Sabrina's small family consists of her father and an estranged brother, Eric. They were a very close to each other until the mother died, which was a life-changing event for all of them, and caused a separation. Father wavers from being lucid to having hallucinations; he tells Sabrina that Eric visited and that he, Eric, works for "Howard Johnson." Since moving to Savannah, she has developed a close bond with her elderly next-door neighbor, Natalie Richards. When it becomes apparent that someone is actually trying to kill her, it is Natalie that devises a plan to keep Sabrina alive.

Political intrigue, corporate espionage, greed, imagination, and danger run amuck in this outstanding eco- thriller. Alex Kava's hide-and-seek tale will keep the reader on the edge of their seat from first page to last. The author's characters are fully fleshed out; the dialogue is crisp and remarkable; and the premise of the story is terrific.

SUMMARY

Tallahassee, Florida
Sabrina Galloway is one of the top scientists at EchoEnergy - a company that has made a successful breakthrough in the quest for an alternative fuel. There is the promise of a cleaner tomorrow, and the economic impact on world markets could be staggering. But in the euphoria of excitement, Sabrina makes an alarming discovery: someone has tampered with the production process, and an eco- disaster of equally staggering proportions is imminent. Toxic waste is leaking into the Florida waterways and the Gulf of Mexico.

Washington, D.C.
Jason Brill, one of the youngest congressional chiefs of staff, prepares for the upcoming International Energy Summit. Working for influential senator John Quincy Allen, Jason is eager to prove himself. Despite his zeal and admiration for his boss, Jason begins to realize Senator Allen's support of EchoEnergy, as well as his personal friendship with the firm's CEO, may be more of a liability than an asset.

Sabrina and Jason have never met, but both are unwittingly drawn into a sinister plot that puts corporate greed and corruption above human life. As the energy summit draws near, Sabrina's determination to expose EchoEnergy's lethal secret has made her the target of silent, faceless enemies.

And the net is tightening, held in the relentless grip of powerful shadow players whose identities reach Pennsylvania Avenue itself.
