clinic to rest and regroup. Though the clinic is closed for
the night, veterinarian Tess Culver is, as usual, working
late. Hearing a noise, she goes to investigate. Finding
Dante, her first instinct is to call the police. But even
badly wounded, Dante controls the situation. Desperately in
need of human blood to heal, he subdues and drinks from
Tess. He intends to wipe the human woman's memory clean
when he's finished taking what he needs from her, and he
does. But as it turns out, he will never be finished with
her. Tess is a Breedmate; one of the rare human women who
can mate with Vampires and give them children. And although
neither of them wants it, needs it or even trusts it, Tess
is now part of Dante's world.
