Romance Chick-Lit

In ICING ON THE CAKE, Laura Castoro introduces the reader to Liz Talbot, owner of the No -- Bagel Emporium. Liz has a lot to deal with in her life. She has twin daughters; Sarah and Riley who are adults now but still make Liz worry about them constantly. Then there's Brandi, the woman who stole her husband. When Liz's ex-husband suddenly dies she is left to pick up the pieces of his business. He left Liz the main beneficiary in his will because he forgot to update it to leave everything to his current wife Brandi. Liz ends up having to run her ex husband's advertising business right along side Brandi. How will she work with this back stabbing, evil, husband stealing woman?

Liz's love life is complicated. She's dating a couple men and doesn't want anything serious. When Liz finds out that one of her flings can help her get farther with her business, she is stuck in a compromising position over what to do. Should she accept his huge offer or should she make it on her own?

While running the bakery and advertising agency, Liz needs to be careful of who she trusts since Brandi is as fake as they come. Will Brandi steal business away from the No -- Bagel Emporium to benefit the advertising agency? Will Brandi continue her man stealing ways and go after Liz's new love interest? Will Sarah and Riley make it through young adulthood without making their mother loose her mind?

ICING ON THE CAKE was a story about love, friendship, loss, family, and life. Liz Talbot is an endearing character, flaws and all. The reader will root for Liz to succeed in everything she does. It's a change of pace to read about an older woman as the main character versus the typical younger characters in chick lit novels. Laura Castoro writes in a fun vibrant manner that makes the reader feel like it's a friend talking to them. ICING ON THE CAKE puts a fresh new look on chick lit and readers WILL take notice of this book. Look out! Laura Castoro is a new author to put on your must buy list!

SUMMARY

When Liz Talbot's husband left her for a woman half her age, Liz put all her passions into her bakery. The problem is that fad diets and fitness crazes are ruining sales and she's barely staying afloat. Liz's luck seems to be changing when her ex dies without changing his will, leaving her the main beneficiary. Unfortunately one of the things she inherits is the advertising agency she left behind to pursue her dream of baking. Her partner? The newly widowed husband stealer--Brandi, with a heart over the i. As the new co-owner of Talbot Advertising, in the toilet since the death of her ex (that's right, she's now the proprietor of two failing businesses), Liz is more determined than ever to break out and make a name for herself as an artisan baker extraordinaire, providing her products can catch the eye of the Nabisco Food scout who is as elusive as he is mysterious.
