Devi Taylor is a young actress whose career was flourishing
until a crazy fan attacked her. She dropped off the
Hollywood radar screen and is just now making a comeback.
Devi signs a contract to portray Melanie Prescott, the
character from Julie Kenner's THE GIVENCHY CODE (the
first book of this trilogy). Devi is depicting Melanie in a
movie script about Mel surviving a true-life
Play.Survive.Win computer game.
Devi is quite the actress, capable of emotionally
connecting within the scenes. After all, she's been
stalked, attacked and almost killed herself. However, when
the storyline becomes reality, Devi finds herself in the
real-life version of the computer game. The past meets up
with the present.
The man in Devi's life, the hero of the film, Blake Atwood,
has mistakenly ingested the poison that was meant for Devi.
Now they have 24 hours to solve the clues to find the
antidote. The rules to the game are simple. There's an
assassin, a protector and the target. The target, Devi, is
not to have any help other than the protector.
Nevertheless, Blake has a stake in the outcome; he has his
life to worry about. When the mysterious person, who put
Devi in the game, finds out that she's had help, someone is
killed as punishment. Devi and Blake, with help from the
protector, work furiously to solve the clues to save Blake.
THE PRADA PARADOX concludes this romantic suspense series.
Although it contains characters from the first story of
this trilogy, THE GIVENCHY CODE, it stands alone and is
quite exciting in itself. Kenner does a fantastic job, and
the title is so apropos.
Devi Taylor was one of Hollywood's fastest-rising starlets -
- until a crazed fan held her at knifepoint and she
retreated to a life of privacy and Valium. Now recovered
and ready for a comeback, Devi dreams of endorsing all
things Prada, whose Rodeo Drive store she can't resist.
Instead, she lands the starring role in The Givenchy Code,
a high-budget action-adventure flick. But with the tabloids
all over Givenchy and her recent split with her drop-dead
handsome costar, Blake, Devi can't shake the feeling that
another crazed fan is going to strike.
Then a frightening message -- "Play or Die" -- is delivered
to Devi's house, and she finds herself sucked into a deadly
and cryptic game not unlike the one in the movie she's
starring in. Hollywood has always been her life, but does
Devi know its secrets well enough to follow the cinematic
clues that might save her and her favorite Prada bag?
