Fantasy | Romance Paranormal

Saber and Wolfer, Dominor and Evanor, Trevan and Rydan, and Koranen and Morganen. Eight brothers, born in sets of twins two years apart, are exiled to Nightfall Island, where they're cut off from the civilization of Katan and, more importantly, women. If these brothers fall in love, they will set into motion the Curse of Eight Prophecy, which promises disaster of unimaginable proportions. The first brother has fallen and his portion of the prophecy has come to pass. Now a childhood friend plots to join them on Nightfall Island to save herself, and perhaps to save the brothers as well.

Alys of Devries has lived in the threatening presence of her uncle for years, doing his bidding and in fear for her life. When her uncle sells her into marriage for the magic and bounty he will acquire from the union, she knows it's time to flee. Using her secretly developed magic abilities and the assistance of a secret friend, she plots her escape carefully and flees to Nightfall Island, home of the exiled brothers who had once been her friends.

Second-born Wolfer is delighted when Alys appears on the island. The two have long-harbored an affection for one another that flames into intense sexual awareness when they meet again as adults. Kelly, the self-proclaimed sovereign of and the first woman on Nightfall Island and wife of oldest brother Saber, takes Alys in hand, teaching her not only the ways of self-defense, but also the ways to entice a man.

The inhabitants of Nightfall Island have old threats to deal with and the arrival of Alys brings a new, more imminent danger into the midst. Third brother Dominor is still missing, kidnapped by those seeking to take over Nightfall Island, and Alys' uncle seeks to destroy the brothers in order to gain power in their world.

THE WOLF is the second of Jean Johnson's Sons of Destiny novels. It's an entertaining story, easier to jump into than the first, if you're familiar with the characters and the world they inhabit. Alys and Wolfer's relationship is sensual and readers will enjoy learning more of the prophecy and how it impacts those of Nightfall Island. Enjoy!

SUMMARY

Eight brothers, born in four sets of twins, two years apart to the day--they fulfill the Curse of Eight Prophecy. To avoid tempting their destiny, the brothers are exiled to Nightfall Isle, a land where women are strictly forbidden. When a childhood friend seeks refuge among the brothers, it triggers a confrontation with their mysterious enemy.

Alys arrives desperate and afraid, but welcomed by Wolfer, the second-born brother who harbors deep feelings for Alys. But she harbors a secret: her own uncle is tormenting the exiled brothers, and seeks to kill them to secure their ancestral inheritance for himself.

Confessing her uncle's plan to the brothers puts them at even greater risk, for their resistance against the evil mage has stirred his wrath. Alys fears her uncle is determined this time to exterminate the brothers once and for all-destroying the star-crossed lovers as well.
