Romance Historical

Soraya, the most notorious and beautiful courtesan in London, ends her relationship with the Duke of Kylemore with little regret. Finally, she has enough savings to enable her to retire. She's free and Soraya is a thing of the past. Now Verity Ashton, a widow, emerges in the countryside to live a quiet and respectable life. In a rare mistake, Verity underestimates Kylemore's craving for her. Arriving at her new home, Kylemore kidnaps Verity and takes her to his remote hunting lodge in Scotland. As his captive, Verity attempts to prove that Soraya, the compliant and perfect mistress, was only an illusion. Instead, Kylemore draws Verity into his nightmare.

Kylemore's masquerade cracks when Soraya deserts him. The inner peace he found only with her leaves him without human warmth. He abandons his treasured pride before society and searches for her. Scouring England, Kylemore finds her. She humiliated and made a laughing stock of him, now he will break her spirit. At his lodge, Kylemore discovers he truly did not know his mistress. He also realizes destroying her will only unleash the monster within him.

These two tormented, but strong, souls fight a passionate battle. They expose their deepest fears and secrets to one another. They cannot deny the powerful emotions between them. However, are they too wounded to forge a new beginning?

Debut author Anna Campbell pens a compelling and dark love story of twin souls who've endured horrific pasts. It's an emotional read as long-buried secrets and depths of pain are revealed. Readers will look forward to more powerful stories from this new and talented writer.

SUMMARY

The Duke of Kylemore knows her as Soraya, London's most celebrated courtesan. Men fight duels to spend an hour in her company. And only he comes close to taming her. Flying in the face of society, he decides to make her his bride; then, she vanishes, seemingly into thin air.

Dire circumstances have forced Verity Ashton to barter her innocence and change her name for the sake of her family. But Kylemore destroys her plans for a respectable life when he discovers her safe haven. He kidnaps her, sweeping her away to his hunting lodge in Scotland, where he vows to bend her to his will.

There he seduces her anew. Verity spends night after night with him in his bed . . . and though she still dreams of escape and independence, she knows she can never flee the unexpected, unwelcome love for the proud, powerful lover who claims her both body and soul.
