Reid Buchanan is a former baseball player who has a
certain affection for the ladies until a newspaper article
questions his abilities. After the reporter tells of her
unfulfilled expectations, then other women come forward to
give TV interviews about his not so stellar performance in
the bedroom. Reid has no other option but to hide from the
reporters that are gathering around his home. His
grandmother, Gloria, is coming home to recover after a
broken hip, so he moves into the upstairs of her house.
To help with Gloria's care, he hires three nurses. Two of
them are more suited for his needs, while the third brings
him back to reality. What is it about that third one that
keeps him seeking her out?
Lori Johnston is the daytime nurse for Gloria Buchanan.
Gloria is a bit of trouble since nothing seems to please
her, but Lori gives her the benefit of the doubt. She
soon has Gloria changing for the better, and Gloria's
family is amazed at the transformation that has taken
place. Being in the confined space with Reid Buchanan has
Lori questioning her sanity. She finds herself becoming
more and more attracted to him, though she tries to tell
herself it is just a chemical response. She knows what
kind of man he is, and reminds him about it often. Should
she give in to the attraction between them? Will he break
her heart? Could she break his?
Susan Mallery has written an excellent romance pairing a
former baseball player with the nurse that has come to
care for his grandmother. Though SIZZLING is the third in
the Buchanan family series, it is the first one that I
have read. I enjoyed meeting the other brothers and their
significant others, and I'll be sure to read the first two
books to learn their stories. I think all the characters
added to the tale, and the subplot that involved Dani
Buchanan sets the stage for the next story in the series.
SIZZLING is definitely a book to add to that keeper shelf.
A spiteful article about the former pitcher and current
playboy questions his talent. And the newspaper’s just the
first bad news. Reid’s grandmother Gloria’s broken hip means
she needs constant care—and she’s going through nurses as if
they were Kleenex.
Reid hired nurses 1 and 2 for their bedside manner with him.
So for number 3, he chooses Lori Johnson, the first
candidate who seems immune to his brand of charm.
Lori considers herself inoculated against amoebas like Reid
Buchanan. So why are her well-fortified defenses starting to
crumble under the force of Reid’s sexy smile—and the
kindness he shows her at every turn? There’s only one
explanation for the feelings flaring between them—chemistry.
