Sophie and Doug have been an item too long for Sophie to
give him up easily. She has a picture in her mind of what
her future is to be and Doug is very much a part of it.
Doug is rich, handsome and sophisticated, but he doesn't
see himself in Sophie's future anymore. He's met a
voluptuous blonde named Melanie.
Sophie chooses not to deal with this situation and between
breaking into Doug's apartment building to steal his socks,
becoming a psychic to persuade his new girlfriend he's not
the man for her, and becoming a celebrity of some renown,
she meets Nick, a short professor who fits her like the
proverbial glove and loves her in spite of all her quirks
and bad hair days.
The storyline and humor in this romance is amazing. The
writer puts Murphy's Law to good use. Be aware that it's
written in a strong first-person point of view. If you like
this type of approach, then this is the book for you.
Sophie isn't crazy, she just wants her guy back. And posing
as a psychic to give his new girlfriend a fake reading
designed to break them up isn't going overboard, is it?
Don't answer that.
Faking psychic powers turns out to be fun, especially after
a few lessons from Nick, the cute skeptic, who teaches her
all the tricks of the trade. But her readings do a lot more
than she could have predicted. Now she must decide whether
to accept her rising stardom in a less-than-honest line of
work-and whether the best option is trying to rekindle her
old flame or finding romance with someone new. And, most
importantly, she needs to figure out whether the answers
lie in the stars-or in herself.
