Fiction

You know the expression "Home is where the heart is" well GOING HOME isn't so much about a family's house as it is about the people that have lived in the house -- past, present and future. The Walter's family and its' circle of friends are probably the most outrageous, eclectic group of people you will ever meet and yet they are probably no different or weird or eccentric than those in our own lives. Love, hate, love, hate and then love once again is the central theme of this very exciting book--truly a roller coaster of emotions. The Keeper House has been in Lizzy Walters's family for generations and so too many of the family seems to be the glue that keeps it together. Keeper House is a member of their extended family. But the Walters are going to find out that they are so much more than just this old manor and with it or without it they have the strength to overcome just about any obstacle that comes their way. The Walters are an intelligent mass of insecurities when it comes to their private lives and in the beginning you think Lizzy has the most chaos to deal with. However you quickly become enmeshed in the lives of the entire wonderful Walters' and realize that Lizzy may just be the sanest of the group--quite telling actually. Lizzy has a lot on her plate what with her current split from David who she thought was the one, to the pressure from her work at a movie production company, to the difficulty with the upcoming marriage of her rather caustic aunt and the list goes on. Add to her dilemma the addition of several new men or reacquainted men in her life and you can see her need to come up for air. Returning home for the holidays seems to be just what she needs but once she arrives she senses that something is awry.

GOING HOME is a book you'll want to keep as a treasured addition to your personal library as you will feel the urge to revisit these wonderfully flawed people from Keeper House. Lizzy Walters is my newest favorite character with her unfailing ability to dust herself off and start all over again. Her life is just chock-full of ups and downs but you become her cheerleader as you empathize, groan and laugh with her. Her relationship with her people is nothing short of well -- normal -- but her reactions and humorous reflections duly noted as inserted in her dialog can't help but endear her and win a permanent place in your heart.

SUMMARY

It's not shaping up to be the cosy family Christmas Lizzy Walter had in mind. Leaving her tiny flat in London - and a whole host of headaches - behind, Lizzy has returned home to the much loved family home, Keeper House, for Christmas. Like millions of others, all she wants is a break, to relax and spend more time with her chaotic but big-hearted family.

But when she arrives, nothing is quite what it seems. Behind the mistletoe and mince pies, family secrets and rivalries lurk - and suddenly the very future of Keeper House looks in jeopardy. And when David, the Love of her Life - or so she thought - makes an unexpected reappearance, Lizzy is thrown into even greater turmoil.

As winter slowly turns to spring, Lizzy realises she has to take charge for once: of her family, her life and her heart. And by the time summer finally arrives, she thinks everything might be sorted out; and that she might be falling in love again. But she's wrong. As the Walters come together one last time for a wedding in the garden of Keeper House, the stakes have never been higher.

Can Lizzy save the family home - and the family - or will it be too late?
