Wedding planner Carnegie Kincaid is in the middle of
helping plan the wedding between Seattle Navigators player
Gordo Gutierrez and Goth rocker Rose McKinney, lead singer
of Honeysuckle Hell. Since the Navigator management is
paying for the wedding, Carnegie is forced to put up with a
lot, including the overbearing, sexist sportswriter Digger
Duvall. When the bride-to-be overindulges at a pre-wedding
game for the fans and wedding attendees, Digger is given
enough dirt for a story. Deciding to track down Digger to
try and reason with him, Carnegie finds him dead with
former beau, Boris, standing over him. Since everyone
believes it's an open and shut case, Carnegie decides to
investigate.
All too soon, Carnegie realizes someone doesn't want her
involved in the case. Her home is broken into and she's
mugged. Unfortunately, there's no shortage of possible
suspects, for Digger had managed to alienate several in the
sports world. Carnegie knows she has to be careful and
discover the identity of the real killer before she and her
fiancé, Aaron, end up the next victims.
BRIDE AND DOOM is a fun story with an engaging amateur
sleuth in Carnegie. The supporting characters are
entertaining and the mystery tracks nicely, without giving
too much away too soon and keeping the reader engaged
throughout. Fans will enjoy this latest in the Carnegie
saga.
If anyone can make a bride happy, it’s wedding planner
Carnegie Kincaid. There’s only one problem: this time she’s
the planner and the bride.
The nightmare begins at a party for Carnegie’s client, a
sexy Goth rocker marrying a Seattle home run king. When
murder strikes and Boris the Mad Russian Florist is charged
with the crime, Carnegie steps up to the plate to clear him—
despite the objections of fiancé Aaron Gold, who has
suddenly become a full-time sports nut. With baseball,
bimbos, and one explosive secret threatening Carnegie’s
safety, this wedding planner needs a new plan. Or else the
bride could be next up—to die.
