Molly Harrigan has just turned 30 years old, is unmarried
and is envious of all her married friends. All Molly wants
is her own happily ever after, but she is yet to find Mr.
Right. After attending her millionth wedding as a
bridesmaid, she throws her hideous bridesmaid dress in the
pile of dresses past and thinks about her life. When
Molly's grandmother died she left her plenty of money for
her wedding, after all Nana was a true romantic at heart
and wanted Molly to have the very best. The only problem
is that Molly doesn't have a man to have that dream
wedding with.
Molly decides to hire an escort to pretend to be her
fiancé. She isn't going to sit idle and wait for a man!
Why wait when you can just hire one and have the wedding
of your dreams? The only flaw in Molly's brilliant plan is
that this man is acting and doesn't truly love her; he's
just hired to do the job.
Molly's sister is pregnant, all her friends are married,
and now her best friend Brad is getting ready to marry a
horrible woman named Claire. Molly parades Justin, the
escort, around her family and friends introducing him as
her boyfriend. Everyone loves Justin, except for Brad.
Molly could care less what Brad thinks; after all his
fiancée is an extremely jealous witch who is trying to
break up their friendship! When enough time has passed,
Molly announces that she is engaged to Justin. Molly's
mother and sister are thrilled but Molly feels extremely
guilty. What has she gotten herself into? Molly just
wanted a wedding; it's not her fault she had to hire
herself a fake groom!
Molly has her eye on the prize, and that's having a
fabulous wedding. Unfortunately she is so focused that she
can't see Mr. Right is right in front of her nose and she
doesn't even know it. Will Molly go through with this
pretend wedding or will she realize what a mistake she is
making? Will Molly end up with Mr. Right or will he slip
through her fingers and marry someone else?
NOT QUITE A BRIDE was a delightfully hilarious debut
novel. I loved the characters and Molly's antics were so
funny! The short chapters kept the book moving along at a
fast pace. I could definitely picture this book becoming a
movie with Cameron Diaz or Kate Hudson. I highly
recommend this book to chick lit lovers who love humor
mixed in with the romance. The storyline was very original
and kept my interest throughout the whole book. Kirsten
Sawyer is an extremely talented author and I look forward
to her next book.
Molly Harrigan has always dreamed of the perfect wedding,
she just never thought she'd be in scores of them as the
bridesmaid. Now on her thirtieth birthday--after her
younger, married sister announces that she's
pregnant--Molly's old dream takes on an all-new urgency.
It doesn't help matters that her best friend Brad drops the
bomb that he's engaged to his spoiled brat of a girlfriend.
Devastated, Molly does what almost no one in the same
situation would do. With a giant wedding fund burning a hole
in her pocket (courtesy of her late, beloved grandmother),
Molly hires a fiance.
Now armed with the perfect boyfriend, Molly stages a
whirlwind courtship, engagement, and grand-ballroom-style
wedding. Lying to her friends and family is a small price to
pay for cake-tastings, gift registries, and dress fittings.
But lying to herself could cost Molly her one chance at true
love--with a man whose feet are turning as cold as her own...
