Fiction

Lizzy Walter was happy and in love with her boyfriend David until their relationship abruptly ended. Now Lizzy is single and going home for the holidays to spend time with her family. Christmas is supposed to be about spending time with people you love, but without that special someone in her life, Lizzy feels sad. To make matters worse, she knows something suspicious is going on at home and her family won't tell her what is wrong.

When Lizzy learns the truth, that her childhood home has to be sold, she becomes very upset. Lizzy's childhood friend and also brother of David, Miles, becomes Lizzy's shoulder to cry on. Unfortunately this leads to run-ins with David and this gives her conflicting feelings. Back in London is Lizzy's sex buddy Jaden, who wants her to move to L.A. with him. With three men trying for her affections, what will Lizzy do?

Lizzy tries to find out why her childhood home must be sold. In the meantime, her family is having problems in their relationships and there is a wedding to plan! With so much on Lizzy's mind, will she be able to see that true love is right within her grasp and all she has to do is reach out to have it?

GOING HOME is a beautiful book that deals with relationships and family. The cast of characters are all unique and have their own distinct voice. This is a fabulous debut novel by a new fresh voice. Evans' descriptions in the book are so vivid that I can picture Keeper House perfectly.

Readers will root for a happily ever after for Lizzy and become conflicted throughout the book on who they want her with in the end. I loved the twist to the story and it made it all worthwhile. I rooted for all three men and the ending was surprising and delightful to me. I have never been to London, but after reading this book it makes me want to jump on the next plane there! I loved Lizzy's family and their quirky personalities.

GOING HOME is the kind of book that you will want to curl up with on a cold winter day and get lost in for days. It's a thick book but it reads so beautifully that it never felt too long to me. I loved the characters so much that I long for a continuation of Lizzy's story. Read this book! You won't be disappointed!

SUMMARY

It's not shaping up to be the cosy family Christmas Lizzy Walter had in mind. Leaving her tiny flat in London - and a whole host of headaches - behind, Lizzy has returned home to the much loved family home, Keeper House, for Christmas. Like millions of others, all she wants is a break, to relax and spend more time with her chaotic but big-hearted family.

But when she arrives, nothing is quite what it seems. Behind the mistletoe and mince pies, family secrets and rivalries lurk - and suddenly the very future of Keeper House looks in jeopardy. And when David, the Love of her Life - or so she thought - makes an unexpected reappearance, Lizzy is thrown into even greater turmoil.

As winter slowly turns to spring, Lizzy realises she has to take charge for once: of her family, her life and her heart. And by the time summer finally arrives, she thinks everything might be sorted out; and that she might be falling in love again. But she's wrong. As the Walters come together one last time for a wedding in the garden of Keeper House, the stakes have never been higher.

Can Lizzy save the family home - and the family - or will it be too late?
