Annabelle Foster is a lovely young actress who is well
sought after by the men of the London society. Her
relationships are dictated by her and she is known for
leaving many men. Annabelle does not trust men. When she
disappears to get away from a dangerous man, she goes home
to take care of her sister's baby. But she will soon
discover that her world is about to be turned upside down
by a mysterious man she is determined not to love. Only
the burning passion is too hot to deny. Annabelle must
run again in order to stay out of the clutches of a
treacherous man, but instead finds herself under the
protection of Duff, the man who is trying to capture her
heart. Will Annabelle open her untrusting heart and
allow Duff's love in? Or will the scruples of a
underhanded man destroy her and everyone she loves?
Duff, Marquis of Darley has suffered much from the war and
has lost all hope of living again. He has quite a
reputation for being a ladies man and rogue. That is,
until he runs into the lovely Miss Foster at a horse
trade. Duff finds a renewed hope in the world and is
determined to convince Annabelle that he loves her and
does not want anything except her heart. He is
determined to locate the missing Miss Foster and confronts
the gentleman he thinks kidnapped her. Duff finds
Annabelle to be frustrating, stubborn, and passionate and
will do anything to win her love. Will Duff convince
Annabelle that he really loves her and who she is? Or
will his heart be broken from the only woman who has
captured his heart?
Within the pages of WHEN SOMEONE LOVES YOU, you will
discover Duff and Annabelle who play a cat and mouse chase
of the heart. Ms. Johnson pens a passionate tale with
alluring characters, an intriguing plot and vivid
imagery. I absolutely love Annabelle's character. She is
sassy, strong-willed and knows she can take care of
herself. Duff is a lovable soul that you can not help
but to be drawn to. He will pull on your heart strings
with his compassion and the pain he has endured. Some of
the secondary characters are just as lively and fun to
read. I laughed at the easy bantering and cried with two
souls that fit perfectly together.
It was common gossip that "Duff" D'Abernon, Marquis of
Darley, had returned from Waterloo a changed man. Gone
was the reckless youth and in his place was a sullen
recluse more interested in tending his horses than
attending balls. But now the Marquis was entering the
game again, openly flirting with the beautiful, witty, and
thoroughly disreputable Annabelle Foster.
Annabelle's no stranger to scandal. The actress-
playwright is rumored to have had liaisons with any number
of powerful men, with an illegitimate daughter to show for
it. She wont chance heartache again, even for a man as
tempting as Duff D'Abernon. What she offers instead is a
compromise: a true friendship of equals.
Each agrees to the terms. A bargain is struck. And an
idyllic summer begins. But what starts as friendship soon
blossoms into searing passion. And the only thing worse
than risking their hearts is no risking them at all...
