Alexion is the judge, jury and executioner of Dark-Hunters
who break the golden rule -- do not kill humans. Dark-
Hunters are the immortal defenders of humanity. When Dark-
Hunters break the rule, Acheron sends Alexion to destroy
them. Apollites die at 27 years unless they turn Daimon and
drink the blood of humans and steal their souls. The Dark-
Hunters' mission is to protect humans from these evil
Daimons.
A Dark-Hunter in Mississippi crosses the line and kills a
human, while another Dark-Hunter, Kyros, is trying to turn
all the Dark-Hunters in Mississippi against Acheron, the
one who saved them from death, trained them and gave them
comfort. Alexion must leave Acheron's palace in Katoteros
and go to Earth. He's given human form and arrives in
Tupelo, Mississippi. He saves a Dark-Hunter's squire from
Daimons, then asks the squire take him to his Dark-Hunter's
home. Alexion has watched Dangereuse (Danger) St. Richard
from Katoteros for the last year. There's something about
her that makes him feel, and that's a feat in itself.
Danger meets with Kyros, who tries to turn her against
Acheron. She then returns to her house to discover Alexion
has made himself at home there. Almost believing what Kyros
told her, the first thing she does is throw a dagger into
Alexion's chest. He explodes into dust and then reappears
in another part of the room. Danger learns that he's not
just a Dark-Hunter but something more, a powerful "other"
whom she should fear. But fear isn't really in Danger's
vocabulary and Alexion touches her in a way no other man
has ever done.
Danger opens Alexion's heart, a heart he thought long dead.
He professes his love for her, even though he knows the
moment he returns to Katoteros, Danger won't remember him
or the love they share. However, while he's on Earth,
Danger is the key to saving the Dark-Hunters.
SINS OF THE NIGHT gives us more insight into the beginning
of the Dark-Hunters. We learn more of who Acheron is and
Alexion's commitment to Acheron. Ms. Kenyon does not
disappoint. She delivers an exciting, tantalizing and
emotionally packed story full of complex characters and
intriguing plots. It's a great read for the summer and
while you're at it, if you haven't read any of the previous
Dark-Hunter series, you'll have several choices for after
sunset as you settle in for the night. That's when the Dark-
Hunters are at their best.
In the realm of the Dark-Hunters there is a code of honor
that even immortal bad boys must follow:
Harm no human. Drink no blood. Never fall in love.
But every now and again a Dark-Hunter thinks himself
above
the Code. That's when I'm summoned. Who am I? I'm the one
thing the fearless fear. Step over the line and it's my
wrath you will face. Nothing can touch me. Nothing can
sway
me. I am relentless and unfeeling.
Or so I thought until I met a female Dark-Hunter who goes
by the name of Danger-it's not just her name, it's how
she
lives her life. She doesn't trust me at all. And who
could
blame her? She alone knows that I'm here to be judge,
jury
and most likely executioner of her friends. Yet she is my
key to saving some of them. Without her, they all will
die.
Dangereuse St. Richard is a deadly distraction. Something
about her is reawakening a heart I thought was long dead.
But in a race against evil, the only hope mankind has is
that I do my duty. And how can I do my duty when it means
that I will have to sacrifice the only woman I've ever
loved?
