Robin Stuart is journalist for the Atlanta Observer.
Since a car accident, she has had a hard time trying to
regain a position out in the action instead of behind a
desk. She happens to be in the right place when a story
falls into her hands. Three Meredith County police
officers are found murdered in a field. Her investigation
into the deaths of these officers leads to many more
questions than answers. When she gets information from an
informant, she writes a story that interests the FBI.
However, they want her to reveal her source. She refuses
and sticks to her first amendment rights. How far is she
willing to go to protect her source? How far is she
willing to go to get the story?
Ben Taylor is an FBI agent who has an interest into the
murders of three police officers. He has no right to
become involved in the investigation until a newspaper
story indicates a possible cover-up. He has no great love
for reporters, and finds it foolish for them to protect a
source and impede an investigation. He intends to make
Robin give up the name of her source. How hard can it be
to persuade a reporter to talk to him?
Together they realize that both of them are quite
stubborn. Robin is not willing to compromise her
integrity while Ben is not will willing to give up
trying. He tries to convince her that the Hydra, a mafia
network, is involved and that she needs to reveal her
source to protect herself and her family. Through a
series of not so subtle accidents, Robin realizes the
danger she is in, but she isn't willing to trade her life
for the life of her source. Not knowing whom to trust,
she plunges head first into unknown territory in an
attempt to uncover the leadership of the Hydra. Will she
be able to bring down the organization or will she be
another victim claimed by its grasp? Will she find an
ally in Ben Taylor or could he possibly be involved in the
conspiracy?
Patricia Potter has written an exceptional suspense novel
tempered with a bit of romance. The characters are
endearing, and you will become entangled in their lives as
they discover the truth behind the murders. As the plot
unfolds, you keep guessing at who can be involved in the
mysterious Hydra network. TEMPTING THE DEVIL is a
captivating read that contains all the elements to make it
a great romantic suspense novel.
As a journalist, Robin Stuart once swore never to reveal
her source. As an FBI agent, Ben Taylor once swore never
to let reporters mess with justice. But they also swore
never to let love get in the way of their careers—and some
oaths are meant to be broken.
When three policemen are murdered, Ben is sure the cop-
killers are linked to Hydra, the Southern Mafia he’s been
keeping tabs on—and he’s not about to let Robin stick her
nose where it doesn’t belong. Then Robin gets vital
information from a Deep Throat afraid for his life. Now,
both sides of the law want her to out her source—and the
Hydra wants her dead. But even though the two have butted
heads more than once, chemistry crackles between Ben and
Robin. And as their desire grows stronger, it makes them
more vulnerable to the danger swirling around them…
