Romance Contemporary

Mia Savard loves her career as a designer at Savard Creations, one of the best design firms in Kansas City. But she's tired of being in bridal and wants to transfer to another department. Her father, Lucien Savard, will hear nothing of it and refuses to give in to her pleas. It's time to take drastic steps, so she quits. While packing her office, she hears her father loudly commanding everyone to get to the cafeteria immediately. Even though she's no longer an employee, she goes to see what's stirred him into yet another of his many rages. Someone has stolen a design and he fires everyone.

Mia is shocked when Lucien unveils the wedding dress she designed for the governor's daughter. It was featured in a bridal magazine and credit was given to Heavenly Bridals, Savard Creations' most fierce competitor in Kansas City. To make matters worse, the owner, Oren Angel, and Lucien had a falling out years ago. No one knows the details, but the two hate each other. Now Mia's design is in the middle of more trouble. Being loyal to her father, Mia agrees to stay on with the company. Not only is she upset about her design being stolen, she's afraid her father thinks she's the culprit.

Lucien hires Joseph Kerr Private Investigations to solve the crime. According to Joe, having a last name Savard doesn't clear anyone of suspicion and Mia is a suspect. The investigation uncovers some secrets and jealousies, making it difficult to know whom to trust. Of course, all fingers point to Oren, but Joe is keeping an open mind. Mia and Joe are spending a lot of time together, which creates tension as they try to keep professional and personal feelings separate. But the attraction is there and the romance begins.

Michaels' MARRIAGE BY DESIGN is a great mystery with a perfect blend of romance and danger. It also provides a peek into the design world where tensions are high and knives in the back are plenty. Michaels writes with fun and flair. After reading the rave reviews for her other books -- MOTHER OF THE BRIDE, HONEYMOON SUITE and RETURN ENGAGEMENT, I can't wait to add them to my collection.

SUMMARY

There's only so much taffeta and toile a girl can take.

Passionate, talented, and noticeably stunning, Mia Savard is the top designer at her father's thriving bridal design company. But her life has hit a bit of a snag. Thirty, recently dumped and suddenly single, Mia has grown weary of white lace and craves couture. But when Mia's most spectacular creation is leaked to the competition, the silk hits the fan. Someone inside Savard Creations is trading with the enemy. In the world of fashion, that means war.

Enter private investigator Joe Kerr, the exceedingly handsome ex-cop hired to nab the clever mole. Stalking dangerous territory, where jittery brides, hysterical mothers, and deadline-challenged designers clash in clouds of gossamer and gossip, Joe is torn between suspecting Mia and seducing her. Amid the treachery, hijinks, and flirtations galore, it seems, for Mia, romance just might be tailor-made.
