Tawny Weber | Inspiration for CALL to Honor’s Hot Heroes
Giveaway: A Sexy SEAL Swag bag
January 31, 2017
I read romances to fall in love with falling in love, and what’s better than a
hot hero to make the journey into love a little more interesting? I write
romances for the same reason, plus I love getting to spend a looooooong time
with these heroes.
While writing CALL to
Honor, I alternated between my music
playlist and playing the same handful of movies in the background. I knew
that, unlike shorter books, these HQNs would be long stories in and of
themselves, and since the three books, CALL TO HONOR,
CALL TO ENGAGE and CALL TO REDEMPTION are all tied closely together, that
I’d want to keep the same background theme going for the writing of all of them.
So I chose a movie selection that was long enough and varied enough to last
through a few writing sessions and watched the same movies in the same order
multiple times because after a while, they become background rather than
distraction. At least, the movie and storylines became background noise. The hot
sexy guys? They were always distracting.
Ready to be distracted? These are the top five hotties that inspired me during
the writing of CALL TO
HONOR…
Chris Evans
Robert Downey Junior
Chris Hemsworth
Jeremy Renner
Mark Ruffalo
Mmmm, yeah, hotties every one!!! Gorgeous, ripped, interesting and varied in
their appeal.
Can you guess what series of movies I watched? Yes, that’d be the Marvel
Universe. Captain America (all 3, baby), Iron Man (okay, I only totally love 2
of the 3), Thor (omg can’t wait for the 3rd) and both Avengers.
Awesome man candy, fabulous humor, incredible fights and sooo much hero
inspiration!!!
I love that these guys are a team. Each one brings his own talents, his own
strengths, and yes, his own baggage to the game. And like my guys on Team
Poseidon, they totally kick butt. One of the things that inspired me a lot by
having these movies seep into my subconscious while writing was delving into the
individual stories as well as the team story.
That’s the energy and feel I tried to bring to the SEAL Brotherhood books. I
hope you’ll check out CALL
TO HONOR and let me know if I pulled it off!
Some of my writer friends can’t focus on their story and writing if a show is
playing in the background. Others can only write to music—but music with no
words. For some, white noise works best so they hit a coffee house or someplace
with a lot of people talking. For a chance to win a Sexy SEAL Swag bag
and one randomly chosen autographed print Sexy SEAL book, tell me this: Can you
do things—write, read, etc—with noise happening in the background?
The Poseidon team are hard-bodied, fiercely competitive navy SEALs. But
when a sensitive mission goes disastrously wrong, three of the team's finest
will have to trust their hearts and instincts to uncover the truth…
"No man left behind" is inscribed in the DNA of every SEAL and Lieutenant
Diego Torres is no exception. But with a team member killed—and the body
missing—Diego's honor is sorely tested. Now his career and reputation are on the
line, and a traitor is hiding among them. Diego wants answers…and only one woman
has them.
Single mom Harper Maclean has two priorities—raising her son Nathan and
starting a new life. Her mysterious new neighbor may be impossibly charming, but
Diego asks too many questions about her past—and about the father of her child.
Questions she fears will reveal her burning attraction for Diego, and ultimately
put them all in danger's path.

I will definitely add this to my "hottie" list!! (Debbie Wilson 11:56am January 31, 2017)
I can definitely multi-task. I have to have music on for whatever I'm doing (except watch tv of course). For some reason I have to have background noise. (Karen Williams 12:02pm January 31, 2017)
Yes I can. I've actually been known to watch tv, listen to music with headphones and read at the same time and know what's going on with all of them. I will admit though, it's gotten harder as I've got older. (Linda Henderson 12:21pm January 31, 2017)
Yes, I can read, write and complete homework with talking and all kinds of noise going on around me.That's how I get a lot of things done. (Leni Kaye 1:32pm January 31, 2017)
Soldiers are definitely high on my 'to be admired' list, for all they do and for who they are. (Sharon Karas 1:41pm January 31, 2017)
I am able to tune out outside noise when I really want to... especially if I am deep into a story! (Colleen Conklin 3:45pm January 31, 2017)
Music, primarily but sometimes the radio. Certain songs just fit t he mood! Such a good series! (Kathleen Bylsma 3:50pm January 31, 2017)
BTW, I agree with your choice of men! Wholeheartedly! ;) (Kathleen Bylsma 3:51pm January 31, 2017)
I can but so prefer silence. I live in the woods where bird chatter is music to my ears! (Amber Mancebo 7:31pm January 31, 2017)
Hmmm - Yummy and they say modern men are lacking -----No, I think they are fine! Love your novels and the wonderful men, honorable and tough. I stay up all night and read when I get your new books (Hard to be alert at work the next day) (Kitty Boese 7:42pm January 31, 2017)
Yes I find it actually helps me! (Ricardo Gonzalez 7:56pm January 31, 2017)
I like to concentrate at the task at hand. When I read a book, it is a total eclipse. I Imagine the sounds, the background, the characters and it takes me to another place. (Sharon Miller 7:56pm January 31, 2017)
I can write and read with the radio on. (Barbara Ryan 8:44pm January 31, 2017)

How can I not want to read a book where part of the inspiration came from RDJ??? (Tanya Guthrie 8:25pm February 1, 2017)
I do well with some background noise but not all. Some can be distracting. (Pam Howell 5:35am February 2, 2017)
I have the radio on, sometimes music, otherwise sports radio- so I don't have to listen to "politics". (Kathleen Bylsma 4:38pm February 2, 2017)
It really depends.. If it's music I can't. I always feel like singing when I hear music. But if it's the TV, than yes I can (Tiffany Engler 6:00pm February 2, 2017)
Music or sports radio in the background while I reading, writing. Especially when the barometer is moving and makes my ears hissssssss! (Kathleen Bylsma 5:56pm February 3, 2017)
I can block out sounds while reading an exciting book, but I really prefer to be in a quiet place. Many, many years ago, I would study while riding the bus to school, but I doubt I can do it now days. (Anna Speed 12:31pm February 4, 2017)
Oh Heaven's yes. I work from home and always have kids & grandkids screaming etc. I had to quickly adjust to noise. (Dawn Staniszeski 2:56pm February 4, 2017)
