I'm sure many of you cannot turn a corner without someone you
know referencing the musical sensation "Hamilton" based on the book HAMILTON.
And unless you are one of the lucky ones,
you probably have not had a chance to see the musical in person. As we get one
step closer to a recorded and broadcast version of the historical musical
following the rise and fall of Alexander Hamilton, PBS wants us to know they
have our back and will air a behind-the-scenes special this fall.
From the official PBS announcement, which you can read here
PBS President and CEO Paula Kerger announced today at the Television
Critics Association Press Tour that it will air HAMILTON’S
AMERICA, a feature film documentary providing intimate access to
Lin-Manuel Miranda and his colleagues during the two years leading up to the
Broadway opening of the musical HAMILTON. A contemporary perspective of Lin-Manuel
Miranda’s revolutionary musical based on the life of United States Founding
Father Alexander Hamilton, HAMILTON’S AMERICA will come to
GREAT PERFORMANCES in the fall 2016, and will be a
highlight of PBS’s Arts programming.
"There will be some of the musical," says Kerger. "There will definitely be some
of the performance looped in."
Kerger also mentioned that everyone wanted to get their hands on a broadcast of
HAMILTON, but that she is
thrilled that creator Miranda chose PBS to partner with.
Although no official date has been set for HAMILTON'S AMERICA, fans of the
musical will love the behind the scenes look.
