With the Thanksgiving Holiday around the corner, this seemed like the perfect
topic. There are so many directions I can take this list. Of course I’m thankful
for my family, my friends, my dogs. I’m grateful for my career and especially for
my readers. I’m beyond thankful for the people in my life who help make my career
and life run more smoothly - my “team” who I couldn’t begin to work without. But
I thought I’d reach beyond the obvious:
1. Books and the authors who write them - people often ask, when you’re
not writing, what do you love to do? Duh? READ! I am grateful for my brave author
friends (those I know personally and those I don’t) who are brave enough to put
words on paper for the world to see.
2. Chocolate - even though it’s bad calories, there is nothing more
satisfying than a biting into a good milk chocolate treat.
3. Soap Operas and Law and Order Marathons - because I’m often home
alone and I need “company” (although I’m not a big people person), I need noise
and things that comfort me. Knowing I can turn on the television and have these
shows on (General Hospital, Days of Our Lives (Yes, I still miss
One Life to Live and All My Children) … and Law and Order
(And SVU) … this makes me happy.
4. Pet Rescue Organizations - I have 3 dogs - two wheaten terriers and one
mutant (large) Havanese - although only one of mine is a “sort of” rescue, I’m
grateful for the people who dedicate themselves to saving dogs from puppy mills,
and those who foster dogs and them send them on to their furever families. You
all are saints!
5. Facebook - because without that online time suck, I wouldn’t have
access to all the writers I might not meet otherwise. (Yep, I said it. I like
Facebook!)
So there you have it. My unorthodox list of what I’m thankful for. What are you
thankful for? If you had to think “outside the box?"
